Beka recently started crocheting again, and her latest project was a fox for a friend’s new baby! It may also look like a bear too and far from perfect, but it was made with love!! Beka actually started crocheting in middle school with ladies at her church and it’s really helped her arthritis by keeping her fingers moving and help with flexibility. Another episode of our “Warrior Wednesday” series just dropped! It’s our first one of 2024 🎉 This week are joined by guest Kate Stepnick, a fellow arthritis warrior. On this episode she shares her experience growing up with arthritis, how her career landed her at Camp Victory, and her experience with pregnancy and motherhood as someone with arthritis. Kate shared some amazing advice for mamas living with a chronic illness. We are so grateful to have her on this week’s episode!

Both of us loved sorority life and made lifelong friends through our chapters 🩷 We are so grateful for all of the fundraising AOII has done for and the awareness they have brought to juvenile arthritis.

This weekend Bri got to see spoonie friend 🩷 Kara has been on the podcast twice, once for her own Warrior Wednesday episode and then most recently on our Chicks with Spoons episode. Bri & Beka first met Kara at JA Family Summit in 2022 and they’ve been besties ever since 🥹🥰 We also want to SHOUTOUT Kara for running her first half marathon this weekend!!!! We love sharing warrior wins 🎉🥳

Cheers to 3 years!! We are so fortunate to be part of such a supportive community as we celebrate 3 years of podcasting! When we started this podcast, we had no idea what to do and no idea if people would actually want to listen in. It has been a lot of learning and a lot of growing, but we are so thankful for this experience and the friends we’ve met along the way. This week, Bri and Max went to FL State Action Day with the Arthritis Foundation and MS Society. They met at the State Capitol in Tallahassee and had meetings with several state representatives to discuss three bills they are trying to get passed in Florida. One around biomarker testing, another banning copay accumulators, and finally reform on step therapy.

For the past year, Beka has had the honor of being a Co-Champion for an Employee Resource Group at her job called enABLE! Their mission is to offer a place for workplace support and empowerment of those with disabilities of all types and severities and our allies, to reframe public perceptions of capability, and to demonstrate how meaningful inclusion elevates the success of everyone. enABLE! recognizes that disabilities can take many forms such as physical, cognitive, mental, or emotional impairment.

Beka is SO proud to say that enABLE! was named the Employee Resource Group of the Year! Their group has a lot of great things planned to educate and bring awareness to their colleagues in 2024.
