Inspired by the legend of the lost city of Ciudad Blanca, Under the LIDAR Productions (UTL) was formed to produce a multi-media project (In The Point Cloud) about the search for ancient archaeological ruins using aerial LIDAR technology to pe*****te the dense Honduran rainforest canopy. LIDAR is Light Detection and Ranging, which uses lasers to measure the distance to and properties of targets. Th

e data is then compiled into a “point cloud” which in our survey was analyzed to determine the topography beneath the canopy. Our project is the first time aerial LIDAR has been used purely as a discovery tool looking for unknown archaeological ruins in unexplored jungle.
