Hey there, my fellow Kingdom-Driven Authors! 👋

Can I be honest with you for a moment? Recently, my one-year-old daughter Amber had an experience that got me thinking about the challenges we face as authors. 💭

Amber was determined to follow her big sister and climb onto the kitchen island. She made it up there, feeling proud and accomplished.

But then, she found herself stuck. She didn't know how to get back down. 😕

As I watched her, I realized how often we find ourselves in similar situations as writers. We start our journey with enthusiasm and determination, but somewhere along the way, we get stuck.

Maybe it's writer's block, and we find ourselves staring at a blank page, unable to find the right words. Or perhaps we're drowning in a sea of revisions and feedback, unsure of how to move forward. 📝

Sometimes, it's the overwhelming world of marketing that leaves us feeling stuck. We know we need to promote our books, but where do we start? How do we effectively reach our target audience? 📣

Other times, we're paralyzed by publishing decisions. Should we self-publish, or explore hybrid options? The choices can feel endless and overwhelming. 📚

And let's not forget the challenge of monetizing our writing. How do we turn our passion into a sustainable income? How do we balance writing with our other responsibilities, like family and day jobs? 💰

The truth is, feeling stuck is a normal part of the author journey. It doesn't mean we've failed – it means we're growing.

Every challenge we face is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and become better writers and better servants of God's message. 🌿

So, what can we do when we find ourselves in these stuck moments?
🔥Reach out for help. Don't be afraid to seek guidance from other authors, coaches, or industry professionals. There's wisdom in the counsel of others. 🤝
🔥Break it down. When a task feels overwhelming, break it into smaller, manageable steps. Focus on one chapter, one marketing tactic, or one publishing query at a time. Celebrate each small victory along the way. 🎉
🔥Keep learning. Commit to continuously improving your craft and business skills. Attend workshops, read books, listen to podcasts – soak up knowledge that will help you overcome your challenges. 📖
🔥Embrace trial and error. Be willing to experiment and learn from your mistakes. Not every strategy will work, but each attempt brings you closer to success. Failure is not the opposite of success – it's part of the journey. 🌄
🔥Trust in God's guidance. When you feel stuck, lean into prayer and seek God's wisdom. He has called you to this journey and will provide the strength, courage, and direction you need. Have faith that He will guide your steps. 🙏

Remember, being stuck does not have to be a permanent state.

With perseverance, learning, and faith, you can overcome any challenge and continue growing as a Kingdom-driven author.

The problem most authors face when God placed a book in their heart to write……

Is the heart wants what the heart wants.

Let me explain……

In the three years since starting my media and publishing company, I have worked with almost 100 authors, and I have truly seen it all!

And while they have different reasons for wanting to write a book, and different goals they want to achieve with their book - they all have one thing in common: They want to tell their story.

Authors nod their heads in agreement as I tell them….”Your Story May About You, But It’s Not About You”…..

They softly whisper, “Yessss, Amen, Amen” as I remind them………“Your Words Will Be A Lamp Unto the Feet of Others”…..

Their eyes light up at the realization that their book is a PRODUCT, and just like any other product that wants to succeed in the marketplace…….it needs to have a clearly defined target audience, and clearly identified unique selling proposition that makes it irresistible to that audience…….

But no matter what their mind may KNOW - deep down in their heart they want to tell their story.

Now here’s the harsh truth, that any good book coach will tell you: No one really cares about your story. They only care about themselves. Ouch!

And while this is largely true, it is not the whole TRUTH. And this is where the problem comes in.

The problem with this well-meaning advice is…..they are overlooking one small detail.

There IS someone who does care. YOU care.

And to a purpose-driven author - this well meaning advice actually ends up being like pouring gasoline on a fire.

It actually pushes them deeper into their resolve to tell their story, their way, even if it isn’t technically RIGHT way.

Because you see, being on the outskirts of “the right way” is home to them. All their life they have been outsiders. Rule breakers. Chasing a dream that everyone else thinks is crazy.

Of course, this will be no different - they think to themselves as they prepare to write their book. And they double down on wanting to tell their story their way.

This can be tough for a book coach to handle. Watching a client resist their advice, and insistently head down a path that they know from experience will not lead them to the results they want.

Having experience is both a blessing and a burden.

The blessing is - you can spot a mile away what will work in certain situations and even more importantly…..what won’t.

The burden is - often times our advice goes in one ear and out the other. It is having the maturity and patience to allow others the freedom and flexibility to forge their own paths.

We can all relate to the know it all teenagers, who have life figured out perfectly - until they don’t.

Or what about the brand-new all in love newlywed so eager to float off into a cloud of happiness - having no clue about the depth of wisdom it takes to sustain a marriage.

The same applies for authors who are determined to tell their story their way, and resist framing their story into lessons and teachings focused on what the reader most wants to hear.

As book coaches, we know that a book full of the details about “what happened to me”, and “what I overcame” and “what I had to endure and go through” is just like an art drawing from a child in kindergarten.

That child loves it, and treasures it - it is their masterpiece, their pride and joy!

But apart of that child’s mother or father, it has no where near the same effect on others.

But…..as I began this post with: The Heart wants what the heart wants!

When I started my publishing business, and very early on (my first month in), the Lord guided me to do something which was unheard of in the industry back then - and really still is today.

To work with my clients to write not just ONE, but TWO books.

Looking back now, I realize how genius this concept is.

Working on two books gives them the space and freedom and flexibility to tell their story THEIR WAY with the first book, and then once they have gone through that experience, they are much more open and ready to do it THE RIGHT WAY with their second book.

Because one thing experience has taught me, is that no matter what - authors want their stories to be heard. And no matter how much you try to tell them that a 5 year olds painting is unlikely to be reproduced and sold around the world, that does not take away the desire in their heart to TELL THEIR STORY, THEIR WAY.

I initially called this 2 book approach The Heart & The Hustle. But The Hustle no longer really resonates with me - for a variety of reasons I won’t get into here. And while the first book is still “The Heart’, the 2nd book is more aptly described as “The Flow.”

The Heart is the your story, that is all about you, and “The Flow” is the lessons FROM your story, that are meant for someone else.

The beauty of this unique approach is that for once in your life you get to have your cake and eat it too.

Because here's the thing: your story is a gift from God. It's a testament to His love, His grace, and His unwavering presence in your life. And now, He's calling you to share that gift with the world.

When you write your "Heart" book, you're not just putting words on a page. You're opening up a piece of your soul and inviting others to witness the miracles God has worked in your life. You're giving them a glimpse of His goodness and showing them that they, too, can overcome any obstacle with faith and perseverance.

And when you write your "Flow" book, you're taking that message even further. You're offering your readers a roadmap to transformation, a way to apply the lessons God has taught you to their own lives. You're equipping them with the tools they need to build a life that honors Him and fulfills the purpose He has for them.

So don't let that story stay locked inside you any longer. It's time to set it free and watch as God uses it to heal, inspire, and transform lives in ways you never could have imagined.

Take that first step. Say yes to the call God has placed on your heart. And let's work together to create something truly extraordinary - two books that will leave a legacy of faith, hope, and love for generations to come.

When I started my publishing company three years ago, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had a dream in my heart, a baby on my lap, and a pre-teen by my side. My daughter Autumn was just a tiny infant then, and my son Andreas was just 11, about to enter middle school. 💕📚

Fast forward to today, and I'm now a mompreneur juggling a thriving business, TWO toddlers, and a teenager getting ready to go into high school!

What a whirlwind the past few years have been, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Let me tell you, it hasn't been easy! There have been countless days where I've had to balance conference calls with cranky babies, client meetings with parent-teacher conferences, and naptime with deadline crunches.

But through it all, I've learned that being a mom and an entrepreneur isn't about perfection - it's about showing up, doing your best, and embracing the beautiful chaos that makes life so wonderful. 💗😅

You see, when I had my son years ago, I was a young, brand-new banking executive feeling the pressure to fit in. I took less than 2 months off for maternity leave, and his formative years were largely spent with a nanny. It was heartbreaking as a mom, but I did what I had to do to provide. 💔💼

I always prayed to God, that if I ever had more children, I would want my experience to be totally different. And He has answered my prayer. Despite the challenges, being able to do what I love, and be a full-time mom, present and available to my kids, has been an answered prayer and a dream come true. 🙌💖

Now, as my baby girl Amber prepares to start school in August I'm realizing that a chapter is closing. My days of working with a baby on my lap are coming to an end. But as one door closes, another opens. 🚪✨

Today, I had a packed schedule of calls and meetings. But when an unexpected cancellation opened up some free time this morning, I didn't hesitate. Instead of using the time to chip away at my never-ending to-do list, I hopped into bed with Amber and I snuggled her close before her morning nap. In that moment, I was reminded of how fleeting these precious stages are and how grateful I am to have the flexibility to cherish these moments.

Now, as my little Amber prepares to start school in August, I'm realizing that a chapter is closing. My days of working with a baby on my lap are coming to an end. But as one door closes, another opens.

Here's what I've learned on this journey:
💖 Embracing the chaos is key to finding balance as a mompreneur. Life is messy, and that's okay. It's all about finding the beauty in the imperfections and being willing to adapt and go with the flow.

💖 Being present for your kids is a gift that you'll never regret. Time goes by so quickly, and those little moments of connection and love are what matter most. Even when work is busy, making time for your family is always worth it.

💖 Following your dreams and passions is worth the challenges and sacrifices. Building a business while raising a family is no easy feat, but when you're doing work that you love and that makes a difference in the world, it's all worth it.

💖 Surround yourself with a supportive village - you don't have to do it all alone. Whether it's your family, friends, or a community of like-minded entrepreneurs, having a network of support is essential. Lean on others when you need to, and be willing to ask for help.

As a Kingdom Author, you are unlike other authors. For you, writing a book is not merely about putting words on paper—it's a spiritual assignment. You have been chosen by the Holy Spirit to share transformative truths that can profoundly affect the lives of others. But this calling comes with its unique set of challenges that, if not navigated carefully, can dilute your message and lessen the impact of your spiritual assignment.

The gravity of this task means that the stakes are high. Each word you write carries the potential to inspire, challenge, and catalyze growth in your readers’ lives. Making common mistakes—like not fully understanding your audience or neglecting the structure of your message—can prevent your book from reaching the hearts and minds of those God has called you to serve.

In the Kingdom, where the purpose of your work extends beyond sales and into spiritual growth, these mistakes can mean not just commercial failure but a missed opportunity to make the impact you are already purposed to make.

These are the five most prevalent pitfalls I've observed among Kingdom authors and my suggestions for actionable strategies you can implement on your own journey to avoid them:

❎Targeting Too Broadly:�Many Kingdom authors feel called to reach everyone with their message - they want to help everyone! However, a message tailored for everyone often resonates with no one. The challenge is to align your divine inspiration with the needs of a specific audience.

✅What to Do Instead:�Identify your niche. Who specifically is God calling you to serve? This could be people facing particular life challenges, individuals in a specific career field, or others on a similar spiritual path. Tailor your message to address their unique struggles and triumphs. Understand their spiritual hunger and how your message can feed them, creating a direct line to their hearts and minds.

❎Neglecting Structure and Professional Input:�A powerful story can lose its impact without clear, organized delivery, and professional editing.

✅What to Do Instead:�Plan the layout of your book meticulously. Ensure each chapter builds upon the last and flows smoothly into the next. Invest in professional editing to refine your message without losing its essence. An editor familiar with spirit-led content can enhance your message's clarity and impact.

❎Writing In Isolation: Kingdom authors often write in isolation and secrecy, and doing so they miss the opportunity to build anticipation and create a community around their message before the book launches.

✅What to Do Instead:�Incorporate interviews and contributions from others in your during the writing process. Including insights from relevant contributors can enrich your content AND you are building a group of readers and advocates who are eagerly awaiting your book's release. This approach not only deepens your content but also establishes a network of supporters who feel connected to your journey.

❎Short-Term Thinking:�Focusing solely on book sales rather than the long-term impact of your message can hinder your ability to truly serve your audience.

✅What to Do Instead:�Adopt a long-game perspective. Think about how your book will serve as a tool for your ongoing growth and development. Plan for workshops, speaking engagements, and further writings that stem from your book. This strategy turns your book into a cornerstone of a broader business, extending its reach and effectiveness.

❎Allowing Overwhelm to Delay Action:�Taking too long to complete your book, allowing overwhelm and fear to paralyze you, or not realizing the critical importance of your assignment can stall your progress.

✅What to Do Instead:�Recognize that writing your book is part of a larger divine plan. Start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can. Trust that God will not call you to a task without also equipping you for it.

Remember, the key to overcoming these challenges is rooted in obedience and surrender to God’s will. He has equipped you for this mission, and by relying on His strength, you can move beyond any obstacle.

You have a unique message that has been shaped by your walk with Christ, and it is needed now more than ever!

MOVE FORWARD BOLDLY in your calling as a Kingdom author. Trust that your obedience to write, share, and serve will lead to profound outcomes that you might not yet see.

Your faithfulness in this process is a testament to your faith in Him, and the impact of your obedience could be more far-reaching than you ever imagined🙌🏽
