In research for Episode #005 of Asianish Podcast to discuss about work/life balance and connection with Asian culture, we found the existence of a term "karoshi". It is a Japanese term to describe workers who work themselves to death.

It tells you how work/life balance is literally a foreign concept to Asians when working to death is such a norm that it has its own word in the dictionary. Let's change the toxic culture of all work and no rest. @ Work :-(

Why did we make Asianish Podcast even though there's other Asians telling their stories?

Because it's not our story. We are not monolithic and someone else's experiences are not identical to our own. The more we provide through the Asianish Podcast, the greater the awareness that there is diversity amongst the different Asian communities.

This week on Episode #005, we wanted to talk about the importance of work/life balance as millions of people have transitioned to WFH and are still learning how to cope with the change in environment.

The Asian culture and mindset has always been work and study hard with no concern about resting or enjoying your life. We were taught to feel guilty for taking time off. It's been seen in Japanese culture, where there's a literal term "karoshi" to describe working to death. The Asianish Podcast is here to say that it doesn't need to be this way, and how we can start changing the mentality.

On Episode #004 of Asianish Podcast, we wanted to discuss about a topic that interests both of us: fashion. While we understand it is hard to condense the topic into one episode, we want to use this opportunity to talk about the current state of fashion, with the impacts of COVID-19 and how WFH has influenced style. The new rules of fashion are a reflection of the shift in cultural paradigm and consumer habits, not a prescriptive list of what to exactly wear.
