We spent some time today working on our own self-care! Andrea and Shani checked out Courtni Lauren Acupuncture, LLC- what a great experience! Courtni is so knowledgeable and in tune with finding the source of what’s bothering you and finding a solution! It was a warm and welcoming visit and we both walked away feeling great! Every time I drive by a trail especially in this heat!

We’ve been over 110 degrees for what 30 days or more now on AZ…?

I think it’s time to head north again this weekend.

Whew!

Yesterday was a rough day at least from where I was from. Not personally but more so the world around.

I went to get my car washed on my lunch break only to drive into the after math of a man passing away from a heart attack. They said it could have possibly been induced from the summer heat.
The news of Tori Bowie hit hard and as soon as I got home one of the neighbors said somebody was hauled off in a bag by the pool which it could have been a heat stroke and she was in a cooling bag or the worse case an actual body bag. No updates as of now.😥

Which brings me to WATERMELON!

In TCM we love talking about food properties. Which brings me to this power house melon that’s underestimated in it’s medicinal qualities.

Right now it’s watermelon season which comes at a brilliant time because it’s great for clearing heat and relieving both thirst and dehydration.

America is SEVERELY dehydrated. You may think you’re hydrated when drinking water but chances are your tissues aren’t absorbing replenishments like you think.

Remineralization helps with that, sol water is another way to hydrate and juicy succulent watermelon (SEEDED, not the seedless sterile tasteless ones… blah) are excellent to hydrate you but also to get your kidneys to start filtering, move your lymph, relieve muscle soreness, reduce inflammation, etc you see where I’m going with this. 🍉 are powerhouses!

I love juicing mine with either lemon, mint, or limes. Others love to eat it. Whichever way works for you you’ll benefit.

I thought I’d make it easy and post a chart on how to pick the perfect melon.

I am heart broken to see our medical system fail another beautiful black woman who died on their watch.

This is Tori Bowie, a 32 year old, 3x Olympic champion. I can’t even begin to share how much this woman has accomplished. She was in excellent health.

Today, she passed away due to childbirth complications. Complications that could have been prevented.

Black women are at a 60% higher risk of developing pre-eclampsia than white woman and are 2-6X more likely to experience pregnancy related deaths than white women.

Why do black women have the highest mortality rate when it comes to pregnancy than any other race?

I can name many reasons.

The statistics have increased over the past three years alone.

It’s about time!

Hi guys!

I’ve been in AZ almost a year now. A lot has happened this past year which has put continuous delays on getting a practice going here in Arizona.
I appreciate each and everyone one of you who I have crossed path with in AZ as well as past patients from Minnesota who I’ve been fortunate enough to reconnect with!
But now, I’m ready to fully jump back into running a practice, treating patients, and watching this bad boy grow.
As of May 1st, I will be moving into a new suite off of Shea and 101 in Scottsdale.
Once renovations are done I’ll post some pictures of the space.
