Tag is a perfect movie & that might sounds insane... At first

On a film side, Tag goes above and beyond at every opportunity. Especially compared to similar films - Will Farrell comedies of old, etc - it's a tight script, using improvs to improve the story instead of just becoming bloated with "funnies." It's not satisfied with the generic "establishing shot, popular song, car driving into city" transitions to many other films default to

Characters are made so much more than the lazy archetypes they could fall into. The relationships feel especially real. Characters insult each other in that special way that is fine when good friends do it, but if a stranger said the same... Wtf?

And the women. Besides the generic reporter who would be just as one note if a man (besides a great lil moment in The Sand Piper) every female character is amazingly written, never falling into a stereotypical role. is gloriously unhinged, Nora Dunn is uncomfortably comfortable & Leslie Bibb might have the most complicated character of them all (I dare not say more if you haven't seen)

And the humor - especially the sequences - are cinematic & rocking with energy & once more, gloriously unhinged. Obviously this is subjective to a degree, but the movie wastes no time telling you this is going to be a live action cartoon from time to time & when it goes full cartoon, I am giggling at the insanity

It's also deeply emotional. Tag perfectly captures that feeling of childhood & friendship & connection. From the first shot to the last, it knows the key to happiness & is telling it to us: you can't keep running away from connection

The first person I ever saw Tag with was my friend Billy. I'd already seen it but wanted to visit his local Alamo while visiting him in Texas & was the movie he chose. We had an absolutely PERFECT time and the next week I crashed at his place is a week I'll never forget

A year or so later he passed away. I have plenty of stories to appreciate him now, but I didn't appreciate him enough when he was here. He helped me appreciate the full glory of the first . He was never perfect, but in a way he was. Like Tag

It would have released on my birthday & that was cool, not gonna lie
🍿
This is the 3rd time it's being pushed back & that's freaking frustrating
🍿
But THANK THE KINGSMEN that it's been pushed back! This franchise needs to continue and releasing it now is a death sentence
🍿
And frankly, seeing it being pushed back gives me hope Disney actually cares about this franchise & cares that it doesn't bomb

is doing a great job doing what has been struggling to do - build herself as an action movie BOSS across multiple franchises. Mad Max: Fury Road is the creme de la creme in terms of action movies, similar to how Fast & Furious is Diesel's.
🍿
But after that, she killed it in Atomic Blonde (or so I have heard. I'm sorry, I haven't seen it yet! 😭), integrated herself into Vin's Fast franchise, and now this - with sequels to F8 & Atomic Blonde continuing her action franchise roles
🍿
I truly enjoyed 's Extraction with , but I'm entranced by the lore of The Old Guard. I'll keep the details spoiler free so you can find out for yourself 😉
🍿
What I will say is that this movie seems to be two movies in one. A revenge story & a fish out of water story, with significant sprinklings of biblical backstory. That's a recipe for disaster, but The Old Guard manages a satisfying feast & balances it well
🍿
It coming to Netflix was one of the few silver linings we have I'm these times & helped it, I believe. Idk if I would have run to the theater to see it. (hell, I don't remember ever seeing a trailer for it before it was on Netflix, maybe they hadn't started the marketing campaign yet)
🍿
The cast is amazing and you'll have a spatteringly good time. And dammit, the stakes are intense! Watch it on Netflix and pray we get a sequel soon
🍿
And on a final note, I think Charlize Theron has one of the best careers ever! Wow, she does whatever she wants and it's always good (Long Shot, anyone? 😂)

I have some anger about this, so please read till the end.
I remember the first time Santana popped for me & didn't just feel like one of Quinn's "backup chearleaders" - season 1, episode 11 "Hairography." Tho I never finished Glee, she continued to deliver magnificently on her character's growth & groundbreaking journey as she falls in love with & starts a relationship with her best friend, Brittany
💔
When news broke that Naya Rivera was missing & her 4 year old son was found alone on a boat, I knew she had to be dead or kidnapped. Tho I didn't watch thousands of hours of interviews, I think we all knew she wouldn't abandon her child no matter what
💔
Last night that was confirmed & it was devastating for all of us
💔
But the article that broke the news to me ended with the text I highlighted in the second picture and it pi**ed me off because:
Naya Rivera & Cory Monteith will NEVER be pumped in with mark salling, a disgusting FU***NG pe*****le. Their deaths were tragic, his was not & the reporter who wrote those words diminishes the true loss of Naya & Cory by doing so
💔
the only silver lining might be that your beautiful son will always be able to watch the hundreds of hours of you on Glee & elsewhere any time he misses you

Eurovision made me cry amongst many laughs. Full title Eurovision: The Tale of Fire Saga is powerful, effortlessly LGBTQ+ positive, with the right amount of Will Farrell's brand

Rachel McAdams steals the show & the supporting cast is aces

I first watched Hamilton w/ my daughter for my birthday. It was spectacular to watch it with her & again on Disney+ and I have 5 things that stood out
⭐️
The first was the line "Raise a glass to the four of us / Tomorrow there'll be more of us" - it reminded me of myself, , & and the podcasts we're doing, seeing those 4 men together on stage - I'm excited for the journey those podcasts will take
⭐️
Second was the King's song "You'll Be Back" - and instant favorite for my daughter & I - and her FAVORITE song by a MILE! 😂
⭐️
And third is the tattoo I need to get (am tempted to get multiple Hamilton quotes tattooed, tbh) - it's the line "How do you write like you're running out of time?" I want to get that tattoo after quarantine, with my own special spin on it
⭐️
Fourth, I'm so glad to see 's AMAZING performances. The first time I saw the gentlemen was in my (instantly) favorite film & I didn't actually know he was in the original cast of because I REFUSED to listen to the music before seeing the show 😂 (a now-ex actually kept trying to trick me into listening to it, despite my preference to see it completely fresh on the stage 😜). And lemme say, Daveed is my favorite actor. Sorry , but you are now my close second 😂
⭐️
Fifth is - I also saw her for the first time in Blindspotting & lemme just say... BOOM! What spectacular performances AGAIN. Actually, this leads into one more thing
⭐️
Surprise sixth thing! I now have another dozen+ performers I will be following. Wow, this cast - how do I say anything they haven't heard a million times before?
⭐️
See. This. Boss. Sh🍿t!

About to finally watch the comedy special filmed while having a heart attack - so happy this well of positivity & generosity survived, the least important reasons being:
I got to drive from Chicago to Redbank to watch his table read of the original Clerks 3 script & later get adopted by him at the Chicago stop of the Jay & Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow after I suggested he do 🍄🍄🍄 😂
🍿
Keep on trucking, Dad. Can't wait to be there at the Clerks 3 Roadshow

Jane Goldman didn't co-write The King's Man & now this. Does this mean she's done with Kingsman? Or even her collaboration with Matthew Vaughn?
🍿
Matthew Vaughn is set to direct "Courage" written by Karl Gajdusek & is the sole writer on an adaptation of the novel "Lexicon"
🍿
I know the original plan was the shoot The King's Man & Kingsman 3 back-to-back, so maybe she co-wrote the Kingsman 3 script before production plans changed, but if the many delays to The King's Man releasing have lead to her leaving the franchise, I'll be heartbroken!
🍿
And I'm all there for a movie she's writing instead of co-writing, but she's essential to the franchise & she was essential to another film I love & cried watching: Kick-Ass
