🐟🐟🐟 Are you eating fish full of plastic and other harmful contaminants? Turns out many of us are, with 60% of fish containing microplastics according to a 2020 study by the Marine Pollution Bulletin.

Commissioner Kevin Shutty represents Mason County, WA by serving on a variety of boards, councils, and commissions.

One major initiative involves cleaning water and leading restoration projects to purify and protect the county’s salmon runs and shellfish growing opportunities (ever heard of a geoduck oyster?).

As a smaller county with about 5,000 residents, Hall wants her constituents to understand the importance of getting involved and participating in advisory groups where their voices can be heard — whether that’s joining cemetery boards or recreational boards.

🚨🚨🚨 NEW EPISODE! Polluted canals across , home to the beautiful , hindered the quality of life of its above-ground and underwater residents with its pungent stench and gooey residue.

Thanks to Monroe County BOCC - Florida Keys' Florida Keys Canal Restoration Program, the water quality of the canals has improved by leaps and bounds. Now, it’s safe to swim and fish in the canals, and like shrimp and manatees can be seen swimming in the canals every day.

We met with Monroe County Commissioner Michelle Lincoln to dive into the county’s program and how it’s not only making residential communities look nicer and smell better, but improving the quality of their reefs as well.
