[K-drama Updates] Choo Young Woo Joins Lim Ji Yeon In Talks For New Historical Drama

Choo Young Woo is in talks to take on a significant role in the upcoming historical drama, ‘Tale of Mrs. Ok’, alongside Lim Ji Yeon, who is also considering a role in the series. According to a report by Sports D**gA, Choo Young Woo has been offered a role in the drama and is currently in negotiations with the production team.

His agency, J.Wide-Company, responded to the report, stating, "The actor is currently reviewing the offer [to star in ‘Tale of Mrs. Ok’]". The historical drama depicts the compelling survival and success stories of a female slave in the Joseon Dynasty who fabricates her identity, status, and even her marital ties. Lim Ji Yeon is said to be in talks for the role of Goo Deok, a slave who transforms her life by forsaking her name and assuming the role of a mistress.

Choo Young Woo is reportedly considered for the character of Song Seo In, the son of the esteemed Song family. Described as a romantic and impulsive individual in matters of love, Song Seo In undergoes changes as he becomes entwined with Goo Deok through a series of events.

[UPDATE] Director Explains "DOONA" Ending.

In the "Doona" ending, the 9-episode K-drama left viewers hanging after the series wrapped up with a cliffhanger.

With this, viewers speculate that "Doona" will have a sequel and can't wait to watch the story between Lee Doona and Lee Won Joon.

Although director Lee Jeong Hyo didn't talk about the possibility of having season 2, he explained why "Doona" ended that way.

According to him, it is a representation of the relationship between Doona and Won Joon, "which is like a fantasy, in a realistic way," he said, adding, "No matter where they are now, how they live, or whether they may meet each other again or not, they will always remember the other in their lives."

[Update] Rowoon Receives Flak For Choosing Acting Career

On September 18, the Hallyu scene was shaken when FNC Entertainment announced idol-actor Rowoon's departure from his beloved group SF9.

Since 2016, Rowoon has been a core member of the group. He became the most popular member who raked in thousands of fans around the world, thanks to his popular K-dramas.

All eight members of SF9 renewed their contracts with the company except for Rowoon who will focus on his solo activities including acting, much to fans' disappointment.

Fans accused the idol-actor of having the "actor disease" after Rowoon stated that he plans on taking new challenges as a solo artist and an actor.

Fans pointed out that Rowoon has neglected his primary job as idol as he continued to film dramas without interacting with fans and even his members.

He was also absent from recent concerts, meetings and fan signing events even when Chani and Hwiyoung, his fellow members who are also actors, are present.

Some fans defended Rowoon, saying that he's entitled to his "selfish" decisions as he was doing better as an actor than an idol.

Rowoon apologized to the public and even said that he understood that some fans might hold grudges against him. He didn't mention nor address SF9 in his letter.

The media, BLINKs, and Hallyu fans were surprised after both of their agencies announced the duo's relationship status.

On August 3, Dispatch released photos of the BLACKPINK member along with the "My Name" star after meeting up at Jisoo's residence.

In addition to these receipts, the outlet also claimed that Ahn Bo Hyun and BLACKPINK's Jisoo are dating.

Following Dispatch's report, YG Entertainment, the label that handles the singer-actress, and FN Entertainment, Ahn Bo Hyun's agency, both confirmed the dating rumors.

In a brief response, YG expressed the same stance and said that the new couple are "getting to know each other with positive feelings."

The agencies also asked the public to support and "look upon them with warmth."

Since the announcement, Jisoo has been trending online.

According to dispatch, On May 18th, a video was uploaded on Twitter showing a young couple who appear to be BTS’ V and Blackpink’s Jennie, holding hands and walking along the Seine River in Paris.

The fan who posted the video wrote, "Taehyung and Jennie holding hands and walking in the city of love, Paris. They are in love."

This made fans even more excited as this was reported last year that they were dating when numerous posts and photos claiming the two had been witnessed on a date in Jeju Island. However, both agencies released a statement to say that they could not confirm due to “personal privacy issues.”

In the posted video, the couple are seen walking together casually without seeming to be conscious of their surroundings. The two are only wearing hats with no masks, revealing their faces. The fan who uploaded the video added a comment to say that other people who appeared to be managers were also in company of the two.

Neither of the stars’ management agencies – V’s Hive and Jennie’s YG Entertainment – have released an official statement regarding the viral video.

[Update] Park Hyung-sik, Park Shin-hye to reunite in upcoming rom-com series.

Actors Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye will be co-leading JTBC's upcoming rom-com series "Doctor Slump," reuniting about 10 years after they worked together on the hit teen romance series "The Heirs."

The network announced the two have confirmed their roles, along with actor Yoon Park.

The new series will follow a romance story between a man (Park Hyung-sik), who's had an extremely fortunate life, and a woman (Park Shin-hye), who is going through burnout syndrome.

Park Hyung-sik will play the character of a celebrity plastic surgeon, Yeo Jung-woo who has always had everything handed to him while topping his classes throughout his school life and graduating from the best medical school in the country.

He has become a top plastic surgeon. However, when he gets involved in a mysterious medical malpractice incident, he finds his life on the brink of falling apart.

Park Shin-hye's character, Nam Ha-neul, is an anesthesiologist who has never had any fun in her life. Growing up, she was called a genius and dedicated herself to her studies. After becoming a doctor, she had no life outside of her work.

One day, upon realizing there is no purpose or happiness in her life, she sets out to make some changes by reflecting on the events that have shaped her.

The series will be helmed by Oh Hyun-jong who directed the 2016 drama series "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo" and is scripted by Baek Sun-woo who wrote the 2018 rom-com series "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim."

Following the agency’s initial statement earlier the same day, YG Entertainment released a new additional statement as a follow-up:

"This is YG Entertainment.

Previously, we conveyed earlier that it is not possible to confirm the artist’s personal matter in regards to Rosé, but we inform you once again as indiscriminate speculation has continued.

We reveal that the dating rumors reported today regarding Rosé are not true, and we would be grateful if you could help so that information different from the facts is not circulated."

[Update]'KILL BOK SOON'TOPS NETFLIX GLOBAL

According to the news cited by a media outlet on April 5, the thriller film is one of the currently most-watched on the online streaming giant.

"Kill Bok Soon," starring Jeon Do Yeon, ranked first on Netflix Global Top 10 Movies Non-English Category. It has surpassed 18 million hours of viewing time three days after its release.

Aside from Korea, it also topped in some countries namely Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Canada, and New Zealand. It also entered the top 10 list in 82 countries.

The movie features the inevitable confrontation, in which Bok Soon, a legendary assassin in the contracting industry, is on verge of renewing her contract with the company.

Veteran actress Jeon Do Yeon, who plays the leading role, played a character who is agonizing between a killer and a mother. She showcased delicate acting through her return to the movie industry.

Meanwhile, following the ongoing success of "Kill Bok Soon," Netflix is preparing for more exciting shows to be released this 2023.

Producer-directors Jeong Hyo Min, Lee Eun Kyung, Park Jin Kyung, Jeong Jong Yeon, and Kim Jae Won attended the Netflix event last April 4 in Seoul. During their media interview, the creative heads spoiled the fans on what programs to anticipate in the upcoming months.

In his interview with Cosmopolitan Korea, the actor hinted at a possible production for Part 3. Lee Do Hyun said, "A Part 3 would be great but I'm not going to comment on anything."

According to a news portal, Netflix dropped the list of stars who will join the second season of Hellbound. In a report, the celebrity, who is affectionally called "the nation's little sister," will be participating in the much-awaited sequel.

As mentioned by the outlet, the actress will play the role of Sunshine's Class Teacher and will be Arrowhead's leader.

[UPDATE] Yoo Ah In Drug Scandal: Actor Reportedly Faked Pain to Get Propofol.

The prolific actor is in the middle of a controversy after he underwent an investigation due to habitual use of the illegal substance. Due to this, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned Yoo Ah In for suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

As the investigation continues, he is barred from leaving the country and did a series of tests including urine and hair strand evaluation to confirm whether he is using illegal substances.

According to a media outlet, a representative explained that the award-winning top star is suffering from health issues.

"Yoo Ah In suffers from a skin disease," the agency revealed, adding that he also has a "phobia of needles" known as trypanophobia.

Moreover, his reps said that he "only requested sleep anesthesia during treatment." Unfortunately, authorities are suspicious of the actor's intention.

In the same outlet, authorities are accusing the actor of faking his pain to receive treatment, particularly with sedative substances.
