Drag Drive Repeat - PRI 2024 Booth #4904

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!!
We have secured a new and much better booth location for the Performance Racing Industry 2024 Tradeshow!

For the second year, Drag Drive Repeat has signed up for a booth at PRI 2024 to see and introduce drag and drive to new audiences! “PRI Trade Show brings together 1,000 exhibiting companies with nearly 70,000 attendees from all 50 states and some 70 countries. Every December, the three-day show takes place in the heart of the racing industry in Indianapolis.” - PRI website

Our new booth, #4904, is 20’ from one of the concession locations, which means a ton of foot traffic will gather in the area! We are also much closer to our Title Sponsor, Summit Racing, allowing for easier collaboration between the brands. We have some great ideas that incorporate all of our sponsor’s booths across the show - specialty decals, promotional artwork, and much more.

We are also working on our One-Off PRI 2024 decals that are given to the first 100 booth visitors each day! So, make sure if you are coming to PRI, you come see us early December 12-14!

We will have an update for the Awards Show location in the coming weeks.

Thank you to our for your continued support, your likes, comments and shares truly help more than you know!
Thank you to our sponsors for making this dream a reality, please support those that support us.

First Timer enters Elite Group of Racers

In his first drag and drive, Barry Cook became just the 11th person to run the elusive “Perfect Pass” in Street Race Small Power Adder class! Barry would run an 8.500, next to Randy Seward, on Day Four of Midwest Drags!

In a Facebook post, Barry said “I have been wanting to do a drag and drive event for years now and finally something came close enough and I had a car ready to go so I signed up for Midwest drags a couple of months ago and started making preparations over the last couple of weeks to get the car 100% ready to go and figure out all the trailer stuff.”

In a back and forth battle during the week, Randy Seward and Barry would swap the lead almost daily, with each racer making several passes per day.
Day One the racers would be separated by just 0.0155 with Randy leading.
Barry had a great day on Day Two, submitting an 8.501 and 8.503 for his passes, moving him ahead of Randy by a SLIM 0.008! At this point, Randy’s car had submitted four passes within a range of 0.007! His slowest pass being an 8.540, and quickest an 8.533.
Day Three would be the equalizer, with Barry saying “I hate that we had a bad performance due to a horrible track in Edgewater and that’s what cost us the race. But Randy had to get down the same track that we did and he did a better job at Edgewater.” Randy would submit an 8.515 and 8.574 to Barry’s 8.691 and 8.590, moving Randy back to the front by 0.026 on their average ET.
Day Four would be a mad crunch of numbers to see what they needed to outrun Randy. Each racer would make several passes on Friday, with Randy submitting an 8.501 and 8.531 to Barry’s 8.500 and 8.526. Barry said “It made it even better to run it against Randy in the other lane.” Randy would ultimately win by 0.019 on the averages, with a Final Average of 8.533 to Barry’s 8.552.

“I would like to give a shout out to Michael Johnson who was my co-pilot, and owner of Holeshot Automotive and Performance, as he helps me out a lot with the car and is one of my best friends”

Barry is the owner/operator of BNB Audio Video in Clarksville, TN. The 2002 Trans Am has a 6.0 ls with a FIS 91/102 turbo.

In closing, it is great to see Barry compete in a drag and drive event, as he has been a fan of them for a long time! And with this early success, we are sure he will be back. Another comment within the post, he says “I will definitely be doing some more drag and drive events but definitely want to address the trailer that I have because it’s bigger and heavier than what I want and it was definitely a lot of stress on the car so I want to find a smaller trailer and I will definitely take less stuff because we didn’t use half the stuff that I took.”

Thank you to Barry for the pictures and info! Thank you to Eric White for the artwork.

The Stark family first joined the drag-and-drive community at the 2019 edition of Rocky Mountain Race Week, with father Tom Stark wielding the shifter handle in his ‘55 Chevy wagon stick shift entry. But just three later, son Blayne and daughter MaCayla moved into the driver’s seat.

Midwest Drags 2024 Winners and Record Setters

Midwest Drags 2024 is in the books! Congratulations to all competitors!

One of the big class wins was Randy Seward in the Street Race Small Block Power Adder Class - his second win of the season! He battled with Barry Cook all week, swapping leads a few times! He finished with an 8.533. His foxbody Mustang with a turbo small block Ford is a long time drag and drive staple. His first drag and drive appearance was Hot Rod Drag Week in 2012! Barry finished the week with an 8.544, just 0.011 behind Randy!

Graham Hayes for Ironman! He finished with a 7.71 average in the gray Chevy II he raced at Sick Week earlier this year. His best pass of the week was on Day Two, with a 7.292 at 189 MPH!

Adam Buntley reset the Manual H Pattern Class Record with his winning 9.065 Average! The turbo Terminator setup in the 01 Mustang looks great and runs exceptionally well! His best pass of the week came on Day Four at 8.850. He took the win by just 0.049 over CJ Roberts’ 9.114 average in his turbo Foxbody Mustang.

Index class racing continues to prove the determination of the racers!
Rolland Lela reset the SME 10.00 Index Record with his 10.050, lowering it by 0.008. He won the class by a margin of just 0.018 across 6 passes of racing!! Second place was awarded to Jay Grabiak and his 10.068 average. With third place behind Jay by 0.006, Timothy Smallwood's 10.074 made for the tightest Top Three race of the event!

Frank Fernandes reset the SME 11.00 Index Record with his 11.020, lowering it by 0.007. Frank’s Comet was tested this week for sure, with making a post on Day Three saying “Made 8 hits in about 1.5 hours, turned in an 11.009 and 11.003”.

Other Class winners include Jeremy Kroeger in Modified Power Adder with an 8.668, Paul Fisher in SME 12.00 Index with a 12.027, Guy Protano in Street Race Big Block NA with a 9.468, Devon Madison in Street Race Small Block NA with a 10.498, and Bradley Arnold in Super Street Small Block PA with an 8.171.

We’ll have the Drag & Drive World Champion points series presented by Summit Racing updated this week! We expect Randy Seward will be a top contender in the points standings of the new for 2024 8.50 Champion to be awarded later this year!

“Racing is the Carrot”

Update on Matt and Bob Koetting: I spoke with Matt yesterday and he is in great spirits and wants to thank all of the people that helped during their time of need, plus all of the messages and conversations they have had since the accident. Also, he wants to publicly thank the racers getting his car back home while he and Bob were in the hospital. And a friend for driving all the way to pick him up and take him home so the family could stay in OKC with Bob for a few more days.

Matt is sore and dealing with the symptoms of his concussion and a nagging rib that is very tender. He laughed and joked the entire conversation so I know he is hurting today. He is already making plans for the future and said that Sean Stanford needs to enjoy his NA Small Block Record because he is coming to take it back.

Matt said that Bob’s surgery on his ankle went great and the other injuries sustained are healing well. He said Bob is in good spirits as well and is working with rehabilitation experts to get back all of the functionality from before. The recovery will be several months but the doctors and staff are saying that Bob is doing great.

“Racing is the carrot we’re using for recovery right now. We’re ready to get back out there when we’re healed up. We are looking at Sick 66 but want to make sure everything is good first.”
The guys have been talking through different plans and ideas of what to do after they are healed. Those ideas range from building another car to maybe purchasing a late model Camaro.

Thank you to Matt for the time yesterday. Please help me in wishing them a speedy recovery.
