Looks like I went a little too obscure with the last round, so let's do another dress history challenge! Here are two more Victorian era dresses from around the same year. If you recognize either or both of these gowns without looking them up, tell me whatever you remember in the comments.

Again, no sourcing info yet, but I'll add it to the comments in a few days.

Hey fashion history nerds, let's do an experiment! Here are two Victorian-era dresses I'm thinking of featuring in an upcoming piece. Without looking anything up, tell me in the comments if you recognize either, and what information about the dress you know offhand?

Both dresses are from the . I'll be publishing full sourcing info with the video, but for purposes of the experiment, I'm not giving any other attribution.

And, uhh, closer fashion history friends, no spoiling my results because you know what I'm working on!

Confession time : I have NO idea what I'm dressing up as for Halloween, despite having a closet full of historical costumes. Help?

I'd wear this Edwardian Morticia Addams outfit again, but I don't have the wig anymore. Give me your Halloween costume ideas in the comments!

Come behind the scenes of the Ren Faire with me at not one, but TWO different events! This year, I had the absolute delight of being a cast member in Valhalla Renaissance Faire and Folsom Renaissance faire, and I've made an event and sewing vlog about what it's like to make a Renaissance Fair happen. Getting dressed in costume in a tent, dealing with foul weather, dancing on all sorts of stages, making a new Ren Faire costume with clever sewing hacks, and performing in MORE inclement weather-- come check it out, you absolute cuff-ruffles!!

What's wrong with this picture? I told an AI to generate "a waist up portrait of a young woman in 18th century clothing", and it spat out THIS NONSENSE. But this is far from the worst AI-generated image of bad historical costume I've seen; my personal social media feeds have been full of slop history factoid pages with bad images of historical clothing made by artificial intelligence. As you can imagine, I'm sick of it, and I'm about to have a lot more to say on the subject of AI and historical misinformation. Anyone else had any terrible AI images of history cross their feed?

[The energy/ethics issues with AI and the way it's being used to put humans out of work are serious problems for me, so I use AI tools very sparingly and with extensive fact-checking. This image was intentionally generated with an older, lower energy-usage engine, specifically for critique.]

Super excited to head to Valhalla Renaissance Faire tomorrow! I haven't gotten to visit this ren fair before, and I won't just be visiting, either. I'll be behind the scenes, performing English country dancing with my friends, and learning about what it takes to bring the magic of Ren Faires to life. If you see me, feel free to (respectfully!) say hello, but please do not interrupt any performances on or offstage.

I also can't wait to put this renaissance outfit through its paces as a performer!

I'm off to another dance weekend, and though I made this 1950s style dress more than a year ago, it's still one of my favorites. I keep getting better at fitting for my scoliosis and various asymmetries, but this was one of my first non-corset asymmetrical dresses, and it makes me feel s confident. Do you have a favorite make that you still wear at every opportunity, no matter how long you've had it?

I had so much fun answering your wedding fashion advice questions, and I can't wait for you to see the video tomorrow! In addition to asking what to wear to a wedding, so many of you asked about guests wearing white dresses, I just had to use this fashion plate from 1868 for the thumbnail.

Out tomorrow in the usual places (or today if you're on Patre0n) 💚
