“Let's not commit the big mistake we did in Nilepet. In Nilepet today, I am told there are more than 3,000 workers, and only 70 are engineers and economists. The 2,000 and something are not supposed to be in NilePet, some are supposed to be in churches, or in classrooms, teaching English. So, when you [The Bank of South Sudan] is recruiting, recruit bankers, fight corruption and tribalism because these are diseases killing South Sudan”

South Sudan ranked at the top of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers (African) table, challenging the Africa powerhouses Angola, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia .

In its power ranking post this morning, the FIBA team wrote ..."The South Sudanese have overcome arduous tests to be in the position they are now, and beating the reigning African champions twice in the current African Qualifiers campaign to stay perfect tells the story of a team debuting in the tournament."

It continued to say that South Sudan has shown no signs of slowing down following previous wins in the first round of FIBA Wold Cup Qualifiers Africa which gave them a direct ticket to the second round.

South Sudan is among 12 other teams that will be competing in the second round in Tunisia in August.

They will play against DR Congo, Senegal and Egypt.

Citizens in Unity State have taken matters into their own hands and manually launch a dredging exercise in Naam River this morning.

Unity State residents who have been largely affected by floods for the past two years believe that dredging of Naam River will help reduce the flooding in the area.

The move, in protest, comes after news reached the locals that activities to dredge the river have been suspended by the president.
