Just finished a sharply engaging interview with Pulitzer prize winning investigative journalist and writer David Cay Johnston, who incidentally is someone who has had the longest track record of having covering and tracking former President Donald Trump.

Soon on MCR.

I am excited to announce that Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and "dean of Trumpologists" David Cay Johnston, whose last book 'The Big Cheat : How Donald Trump Fleeced America and Enriched Himself and His Family' had made waves, will be my guest on Mayank Chhaya Reports on October 21.

David, who specializes in economics and tax issues and had won the 2001 Pulitzer for Beat Reporting, had made some startling revelations in 'The Big Cheat'.

The book's synopsys says, "While the world watched Donald Trump’s presidency in horror or delight, few noticed that his lifelong grifting quietly continued. Less than forty minutes after taking the oath of office, Trump began turning the White House into a money machine for himself, his family, and his courtiers.

More than $1.7 billion flowed into Donald Trump’s bank accounts during his four years as president. Foreign governments rented out whole floors of his hotel five blocks from the White House while lobbyists conducted business in the hotel’s restaurants. Payday lenders and other trade groups moved their annual conventions to Trump golf resorts. And individual favor seekers joined his private Mar-a-Lago club with its $200,000 admission fee in hopes of getting a few minutes with the President. Despite earning more than $1 million every day he was in office, Trump left the White House as he arrived—hard up for cash. More than $400 million in debt comes due by 2024, and Trump still lacks the resources to pay it back."

With barely three weeks to the November 5 presidential election and the prospect that he could still win, I will engage Johnston on a variety of themes.

Reading the superseding indictment in the alleged plot to assassinate the New York-based Khalistan campaigner Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, designated as a terrorist by India, I remain as intrigued now as I was last year about one particular detail.

How is that Nikhil Gupta, the alleged go-between arranging for a hatchetman to carry out the killing at the apparent behest of Vikash Yadav, a senior field officer in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), ended up finding in New York someone who was an undercover U.S. agent?

I am trying to understand, without success so far, the odds of Gupta ending up with a U.S. undercover agent.

As is known now the U.S. Department of Justice has charged Vikash Yadav on three counts, murder-for-hire conspiracy, murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

The indictment carries this photograph of Yadav's.
