Why are Sikhs in Punjab converting to Christianity? Why are the Sikh Sangat and government silent on this issue?
Sikhs are getting converted to Christianity in Punjab for the same reason Hindus are getting converted to christianity in other parts of India. Upper caste repetedly fail in giving equal respect or dignity to lower castes.
Sikhism is only in majority in Punjab state of India in the entire world. So conversion of Sikhs should have sent alarm bells to Sikh leadership earlier but they are ignoring it. They are busy blaming centre, rss and Hindus for their misery or busy in migrating abroad. Punjab only has 57% Sikhs if the trend continues within 2 decades they will be in minority, could happen sooner. In todays time its about demographics is destiny. Sikhs will unfortunately loose power even in Punjab.
Christian Missionaries typically target Dalits and Tribal population. Punjab has highest proportion of Dalits. 32% population is Dalit and Majority are Sikhs. Mazhbi, Ravidasia and Ramdasia are all Sikh majority. Christian Missionaries are converting both Hindus and Sikhs but Sikhs are getting converted in extremely large numbers. In border areas they are most active and Jalandhar reportedly has biggest church in Asia. But Punjabis are too naive and don't understand issues till they get overblown. Indigenous religion people Sikhs and Hindus are busy fighting against each other. Abrahamic religions are having fun at their expense. Pakistan already took more than half of Punjab now Christian's will also start creating social problems.
