*NEWARK* TAP IN! Folks have received mail-in ballot instructions with the incorrect date. SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS ARE ON TUESDAY, APRIL 16TH. cc: Newark Naacp Project Ready The Gem Project, Inc. Clinton Hill Community Action

The mail-in ballot instructions distributed to voters in Newark contained a crucial typo: the election date was incorrectly stated as April 18th. The correct date for the elections is Tuesday, April 16th.

According to the Newark Kids Count 2022, there are over 56,000 children enrolled in state-funded schools in the city. However, there are few extracurricular activities focused on girls in Newark where they have a safe outlet for self-expression and an opportunity to build social skills. Two organizations, in particular, have become a lifeline for these young people.

We are seeking an experienced interviewer and storyteller to produce narratives of stories from our Newark community, to be published/broadcast by Newark Stories & Five Wards Media, You would produce narratives of Newark residents impacted by the housing crisis and food insecurity + organizations responding to critical community needs .

Position: Contract position at an estimated 10-15 hours per month
Compensation: $500 per story (one story per month minimum)

Work is predominantly remote, but some in-person time will likely be required in the greater Newark and Essex County area. The reporter will set their own hours, and may occasionally work evenings and/or weekends to accommodate the availability of community contributors.
