A LEGACY WRITTEN IN BLOOD 🩸 AND BROTHERHOOD

On July 29, 1966, six months after Nigeria’s first coup—led by brave yet overzealous young officer -Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu.

Another bloody military takeover shook the nation.

This time,
it was the northern faction of the Nigerian Army striking back.

Their primary target?

General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, Nigeria’s first Military Head of State.

A FRIENDSHIP TESTED IN FIRE🔥

General Ironsi had entrusted his friend and colleague, Lt. Col. Francis Adekunle Fajuyi,

with the role of Governor of the Western Region. —a position Fajuyi earned through discipline, commitment, and unwavering loyalty.

But on that fateful day in Ibadan, loyalty would be tested in the most brutal way.

A young northern officer T.Y Danjuma (a captain in the Nigerian army), who was supposed to be Fajuyi’s aide and protector let him down.

Instead of safeguarding his boss, he led a troop of soldiers from his region to capture Ironsi.

Perhaps, blinded by ambition or fear daya chikin
Biun, the young officer sought to prove his allegiance to the coup plotters (Northern Officers).

But did he truly understand that those using him questioned his faith, his beliefs, and his very identity? 🤔 (A topic for another day!)

MOMENT OF CHOICE ⚔️

As the soldiers stormed in, it became clear: Ironsi was the target.

The young officer, torn between duty and betrayal, gave Fajuyi two options:

1️⃣ Step aside and let them take Ironsi.
2️⃣ Stand with Ironsi—and share his fate.

💥 Fajuyi chose the second option.

His aide, thinking he was joking, tried to push him away, urging him to save himself. But Fajuyi stood firm.
He knew that if he let them take Ironsi while he remained free, the world would believe he was part of the conspiracy.

💬 “If you take him without me, I will have nothing to tell the world after the incident. No one will believe I had no part in this.”

Without hesitation, he entered the car willingly.

From ₦20 to Destiny: How General Useni Opened the Door to My Future - A Tribute

I arrived in Abuja with my friend Jeff Okoli at about 8 p.m. on the last night of NYSC registration. We arrived at Kubwa camp for registration barely two hours before closing time. With just ₦20 in my pocket—my last card, as they say—I stepped into Kubwa camp with a cloud of uncertainty about how I would survive. I looked around the NYSC camp and decided there was no going back. This was my dream, and I had made it this far.

I arrived in Abuja, my dream NYSC location (I was posted to Abuja without any man know man) full of hope. My hope was to be a public servant, and my ambition was to retire as a Permanent Secretary. Fueled by this ambition, I started inquiring about how to join the public service. I learnt that Gen Abacha, then Head of State, had placed an embargo on employment. Undeterred, I made further enquiries and learnt of a small window; the NYSC Award led to automatic employment.

I became obsessed with the goal. If the NYSC Award was the only guaranteed way into public service, I would earn it. There were no shortcuts, no favours—just sheer determination.

I launched my personal Community Development Service (CDS) project, the Campaign for Exam Ethics. I mobilised my fellow Corps members, and together, we went from school to school, speaking against exam malpractice, staging plays, and instilling a culture of integrity in young minds.

There were no weekend getaways and no time for travel. While others left Abuja to visit home, I stayed back, laser-focused. I did not miss a single day of my CDS work.

I wrote letters to many agencies to sponsor a conference on examination ethics and received numerous rejections. I persisted. Some days, exhaustion gnawed at me. The Abuja sun was unforgiving, and transport costs for my drama crew and me were a constant challenge. But every morning, I rose, dusted myself off, and marched to yet another school, determined to spread the message

WHAT IS TRUE LOVE?

Years ago, when I lived in *Lugbe,* a suburb in *Abuja,* a number of girls lived in a building adjacent to me. They strictly lived to be picked up by men.

The girls will *go out at night* and return the following *morning.* I, and other neighbors were *angry.* The girls were very noisy. They never cared who their noise disturbed.

One day, the landlord had enough. *He evicted all of them.* Their properties were thrown out. All the girls found somewhere else to relocate, *except one.* She had no place to go.

She kept her belongings in our building corridor, and on nights that she was home, she'd sleep there... *and that was on most nights.*

The tenants in the building, *including my husband and I,* met to plan how to put her and her belongings out. *Surprisingly,* one tenant, *a woman* was against the idea. She asked, "What would you all do if this girl was *your daughter, sister or relative?"* She told us that this girl and her friends have, no doubt made *wrong choices.* But she reminded us that we too, *at some point* in our past also made wrong choices. But God still held us close to His heart and saved us. She cautioned us as Christians to *consider what Christ Jesus would do.*

Everyone was quiet. But none suggested any way to help the *now homeless* lady.

Later on, the same woman who defended her at the tenant meeting had a talk with her husband. They agreed to house the girl *in their moderate apartment.*

They invited the girl into their home and told her she could stay with them. The homeless girl was shocked when the woman said to her, *"We know what you do for a living.* And you are free to go out at night and come back the next day if that's what you choose to do. Feel free to eat our food. Use the other bedroom. It is yours *as long as you live here.* Live like one of us. We did not bring you in to judge you. But we will continue to pray for you. Hopefully, the spirit will talk to you..., *at your own time."*

_The girl

AFRICAN LEADERS OUR GREATEST
PROBLEM

AFRICAN LEADERS THINK WELL

I ALMOST CRIED WHEN I UNDERSTOOD WHY TRUMP DIDN'T INVITE ANY AFRICAN LEADER AT HIS INauguration. UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING NOW At a press conference held in Washington, at the White House, Trump made profound statements against African leaders. Donald Trump explains his statements against Africans:

*DONALD TRUMP MESSAGE TO AFRICAN LEADERS.
If after 50 years of independence you have not built the necessary infrastructure for your people, are you human?

Donald questioned. If you sit on gold, diamonds, oil, uranium, iron, copper, silver, magnesium, crude oil, gas, if your people die of hunger, without health and with nothing to live on, with terrible education, do you feel human?

- Donald said. If you stay in power, you buy weapons abroad to kill your own citizens, are you human?

If you despise and shoot your own citizens like nothing, who will respect them?

If you become a thief in your own country, stealing all the resources destined for your country, while most of your brothers are miserable, starving and living very poorly, is that being human?

Hmmmm......help me ask them oooo"ARE THEY HUMAN?"
