📜 A brief (by ADHD standards) introduction
👋 Hello all!
🤯 My name is Bee and since first sharing about my ADHD diagnosis earlier this year, I am astounded that over 100 people have now reached out to ask questions and to share their experiences. Unable to find any existing UK-based women-led adult-focused resources, I'm now asking you to share your experiences in a new video podcast series; ADHDefghijklmnop.
🧐 January 2021, aged 32, I found out I had been living with undiagnosed and untreated ADHD and ASD. Having been treated for depression and anxiety since my teenage years, things now began to make sense and hey presto, I began to see life through a new lens.
👀 Taking part in a Women's ADHD Empowerment Festival in April 2021, I shared my thoughts without thought. Without preparation and believing I'd manage to speak for around only 20 minutes then shy out with imposter syndrome, I soon found myself having to end the live feed, realising 52 minutes later that the next speaker was due on and I'd just bared my little soul unfiltered.
🧠 It seemed this resonated with a huge amount of people, particularly women, many for the first time hearing so many relatable things shared so openly.
🙄 With a general bias in the diagnostic criteria, many more males are diagnosed than females, particularly at a young age. This has left a 'lost generation' of women, who later in life are finally discovering their quirks may actually be down to being badass neurodivergent babes.
🦸♀️ ADHDefghijklmnop is an A-Z of neurodiversity, exploring varying topics around being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world. From Anxiety to Executive Dysfunction, Family to Labido, Memory to Treatment and everything in between, guests are invited to join the discussion and share their experiences to help others understand life with ADHD.
🤹♀️ To be honest, I'm not sure who I think I am deciding to make this podcast, but hey, ADHD gives me the confidence to do it anyway, so thanks for being here!
