I lost myself the last couple of weeks. It felt like I was stuck in a void, with one foot stuck in my old life, and one foot reaching towards the new life I wanted. The constant internal push and pull made me afraid to take a step in either direction.

To cope with this frustrating feeling, I completed detached from higher self. I felt lost. I felt blind. I felt afraid.

Yesterday I went on a journey and it finally broke me out of my trance. The experience was extremely intense, but as I laughed and cried, I felt my higher self coming alive as my old self faded into the background again.

Before my journey, I asked source to give me a clear sign. Deep down I knew what I needed to do, but the fear of making a move held me firmly in place. I desperately needed a clear sign to push me forward. Just as I felt my higher self coming back into my body, I got the call that I got the new job I’ve been interviewing for. I guess you can’t have a more clear sign than that! Here’s to the next chapter of my life!

Pulled out 8 of my tomato plants this past weekend. I have 5 more left, but won’t be expecting another harvest like this last one. I did plant a bunch of fall crops (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Napa cabbage, scallions, kohlrabi, peas, fava beans, lettuce stem, bok choy, kale, rainbow chard, carrots, daikon, and various winter flowers), but I already miss tomato season! 😩

I’m not a fan of traditional moon cakes, but decided to give snow skin moo cakes a try for this Moon Festival.

I made mine with salted egg custard filling.

Final verdict? Still not a fan 😅...but they are pretty to look at though!

These are a bit tricky to wrap, but once you get the hang of it, they are pretty way to make and sooooo worth it!

Mine aren’t that pretty yet, but that’s ok. They all look the same once consumed. 😜

I hope you enjoy!!!

I grew up eating lychees every spring and summer up in Shanghai. And now in the states I find myself craving these sweet & juicy fruits all summer.

Today I am showing you how I make my lychee boba cream puffs. These do take a little effort to make, but they are light, airy, creamy, and sweet with a hint of tanginess from the lychees. I think they are so worth the effort. I hope you enjoy!!

Swipe 👉 for my super easy crab cake recipe. 🦀

These crab cakes are super fast to make, and only take a few ingredients.

The key to these crab cakes is using Japanese mayo (aka Kewpie), which is sweeter and less salty than American mayo. If you are using normal mayo, use less or skip adding salt.

I hope you enjoy!!! @ San Mateo, California

Swipe 👉 to see the aftermath...😂

The words “sugar-free” have never really been uttered willingly from my lips. So when my bestie asked me to bake her baby a sugar-free smash cake for her first birthday, I was both excited for the challenge and a little nervous.

I decided to make a banana cake since bananas have natural sweetness. I also added sugar free apple sauce to add some more natural sweetness and some moisture to the cake.

Fortunately the cake turned out pretty good, I would actually eat it. 😊 I can definitely taste the bananas, and the cake is very moist.

For frosting I added some honey and vanilla to cream cheese and butter. Whipped that up, then mixed in some unsweetened whipped cream.

I of course did not allow my kids to taste the cake...mostly so I can continue to be confident in the final result...😅 @ San Mateo, California

Happy TENTH 🎂 to my !!! 🎈

I can’t believe it’s been a decade since you came into our lives. I have watched you grow from a helpless little baby to a compassionate, thoughtful, loving pre-teen (eeeek!!!)

I love everything about the girl you have become. Your love for animals. Your passion for reading and writing. Your curiosity for learning. And your creativity from drawing, to making animations, to coding. I am in awe of everything you can do.

I asked to you promise me to stop growing when you turned 6. It’s been an inside joke since then that you “break my heart” each year your turn older.

But I am glad to see you growing into your own. While it does hurt some times how little you need me now compared to before, I am also SO PROUD of your independence.

Thank you for being mine. I didn’t realize it then, but you are the catalyst for all the positive changes I have made to my life. You are the original driving force that made me want more out of life, so in turn I can give you more out of life.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for being mine. Thank you for being ours. I love you to the moon and back, more than all the stars in the sky, until the end of the world and after, to infinity and beyond...you get the idea 😋😘❤️.

Happy birthday my baby girl! @ San Mateo, California

My all time favorite street food in China are Xinjiang style lamb skewers. I used to buy these snacks everyday, on my way home from elementary school. (I was quite the little 🐷).

I still love these lamb skewers, and found an easier way to make them.

Traditionally you need to marinate the lamb meat to get rid of it’s gaminess. But I found by using lamb chops, I can skip that step.

Plus with using lamb chops, I don’t have to worry about getting skewers, or spend anytime threading the meat.

Swipe 👉 for my go-to super fast & easy Chinese marinated 🥒 side dish!

I serve this dish at least once a week in the summer time. It’s super easy to make, and it’s one of my husband’s favorite side dishes.

The cold cucumbers taste so refreshing in 🔥 summer heat. The grated raw garlic give just the right amount of kick, and the two vinegars really brighten the dish. The sesame oil does a wonderful job of balancing out the flavors with a little earthiness.

This year I grew ✌️new varieties of tomatoes on my patio.

One is Brad’s Atomic Grape, which are giant grape tomatoes. They are so gorgeous, and I think this might be my new favorite tomato in terms of flavor. I have a feeling I’ll have at least 5 of these next summer.

The other variety is called Blue Cream Berries, which are little cherry tomatoes. I grew these purely because I thought they looked super cute. 😊 These have a yellow to purple ombré affect with a little star on top where the stem is. SOOO cute and really sweet!

Between the two, I prefer Brads Atomic, but will definitely also grow Blue Cream Berries again the future as well.

Ever wonder how Chinese restaurants get their meat so tender it practically melts in your mouth?

Usually they tenderize meat in large amounts of baking soda & water mixture for a few hours, then rinsing the meat throughly in water before marinating.

Now I don’t know about you, but this mama ain’t got the time to sit around waiting for meat to tenderize for a FEW HOURS 😱. So I include a smaller amount of baking soda in my marinade along with other meat tenderizing ingredients. This saves time and results in super flavorful meat! 🤗

Coming at with a Fresh Tomato Tart recipe. Swipe 👉 for step by step instructions.

It’s been so damn 🔥 in SF Bay Area this past week. I was not in the mood to cook over a hot stove.

Luckily being a gardener, I just need to go out to my patio to find something fresh and yummy to eat. I ended up picking a bunch of 🍅 today and made a fresh tomato tart with Parmesan crust. It was so refreshing, and really showcases my sweet, juicy tomatoes! @ San Mateo, California
