If you have not heard already, a select few states, including our own Tennessee and Kentucky, were hit with major tornadoes this weekend. The devastation was unimaginable, with the death toll in one city, Mayfield, Kentucky, reaching as high as 80.
Please, join us in praying for the families affected by this disaster as well as for the ones who passed away.
If you want to help, here’s how:
• The Kentucky Governor created a tornado relief fund this past weekend. If you want to make a donation, click this link: https://secure.kentucky.gov/formservices/Finance/WKYRelief
• The Red Cross is also taking donations at this time to help everyone affected. You may help by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999, or by visiting the Red Cross online, at https://www.redcross.org/about-us/news-and-events/news/2021/red-cross-responds-to-deadly-tornadoes.html
• The Salvation Army has also set up a Tornado Relief Fund. If you wish to donate, you may call 800-725-2769. These donations are going to meals, which will be serving first responders, as well as survivors in the area.
• A Christian humanitarian group, named World’s Vision, plans to ship items to the affected areas. If you wish to donate to them, you may visit here: https://donate.worldvision.org/give/disaster-relief-in-the-usa
• The Samaritan’s Purse is also chipping in. They have sent disaster response teams to Mayfield, Kentucky and to Monette, Arkansas, while other teams are visiting places like Tennessee and Illinois. Samaritans Purse has sent tractor trailers with supplies to these areas, and you can donate to them at this link: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/
