🙏🏻 THE END OF AN ERA 🙏🏻

Good Afternoon All!

As you will be aware, things have been a little quiet over here lately and despite my best efforts I have simply not had the time and energy to produce new regular podcasts recently.
I am in the process of making some big changes with regards to my career path and ongoing journey and am finally at a point where I am able to sensibly reduce my commitments and the number of projects I run.

With that in mind I have taken the decision to bring this chapter to a close. I have LOVED producing the By Candlelight podcast over the past 2 years and only wish there were enough hours in the day to devote to it and do it justice.

There will be 1 final farewell special podcast coming up in 2 weeks time which I truly hope you'll all enjoy 🙏🏻

Coming this month...

"Spring-Heeled Jack"

He’s got long claws, he vomits fire, and he jumps higher than an Olympian. Spring-Heeled Jack was the supreme terror of Victorian London, until another Jack turned up several years later to steal the crown!

In the 1830s and 40s, tales of Jack were common – mainly attacking women, the figure/monster would ring a doorbell, and when someone would answer, it would ravage their clothes with its claws. Other sightings have him simply ambushing people who were out walking. Reports continued to trickle in with strange details such as fire breathing mass hysteria and regular appearances in the penny dreadfuls further contributed to the legend of ol’ Jack.
A man called Thomas Millbank boasted of being Jack and was subsequently tried, only escaping jail because he was unable to breathe fire on command.

The most popular theory is that Jack was a wacky nobleman with money to burn on outlandish costumes, but that didn’t stop him being spotted as recently as 2012!
