TRINITY Chapter 2 will debut at PICOF!

Amazing how our komik has gone this far and not without the pure talent and hardwork of my collaborator and artist Dominic Ian. I know it’s been a long while since the first issue came out. But during that long while, we have put the work in to develop our craft. I attended the 9th Comic Book Creator’s Workshop last year and really gained a lot from that experience. And those learnings from the workshop I hope you get to notice in this chapter and in the future chapters to come.

So I hope to see you at this years Philippine International Comics Festival on July 20-21 at The Podium Hall, 6F Podium Mall! I will be at TABLE 59 with my other Komiket University batchmates. Ashcan editions of Trinity Chapter 1 & 2 will be on sale there!

REALLY INTERESTING FIRST
EPISODE FOR PULANG ARAW! There’s so much thought put into the production, the costumes, hair and makeup, and even the dialogue. For a historical drama it has an interesting premise and it hooks you in immediately. It may have retained its soap opera elements but I guess that’s what makes this show very Filipino.

PULANG ARAW on Netflix July 26! And on GMA prime July 29!

The film seems to believe the notion that Clara has been a little crazy or obsessed or delulu as soon as the film starts. But maybe an hour in you will still not find yourself hooked on the characters. Nothing in what’s happening is really believable. I mean its a supernatural horror movie, it shouldn’t be believable right? Wrong. A good supernatural movie will make us believe that these things are maybe real and so the scares become effective. So when the supernatural start to be supernatural in this movie, the scares just felt like a cringy and uninspired show done at 10 fps.

But there’s also one thing that felt effectively supernatural: (sarcasm intended): the dialogue.

Horror lovers are in for a treat: Netflix is set to release its local horror feature Outside on October 11th, starring Sid Lucero and Beauty Gonzales. The title was unveiled in the recently concluded Netflix APAC Southeast Asia Showcase in Fairmont Jakarta, where award-winning filmmaker and content director Carlo Ledesma joined a panel alongside other creatives and Netflix content heads from Thailand and Indonesia to discuss the future of storytelling in the region.

Outside follows a family’s quest for refuge amidst a zombie outbreak that has ravaged their community—until old traumas resurface to threaten their very survival.
