Palestinian campaigner on the right to freedom
Numerous academics have pointed out that, as an occupying power, the Israeli state does not have the right to ‘self-defence’ against occupied Palestine. Instead, it has a legal obligation to ensure and prioritise Palestinians’ wellbeing. The UN, meanwhile, has recognised the legitimacy of struggles for “liberation from colonial and foreign domination and foreign occupation by all available means, including armed struggle”.
