In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, I join our Muslim communities in observing Eid'l Adha or the Feast of the Sacrifice.

This day reminds us that, with deep faith and loyalty to our virtues, we can take risks for hefty costs, even if it means losing those whom we love and letting go of many things that matter to us. As we commemorate how Ibrahim offered his son in obedience of Allah, let us likewise believe that in entrusting ourselves and surrendering our worries to the Supreme Authority, all our hearts’ desires for the greater good will be heard and granted.

The solemn narrative that punctuates this occasion tells us that, at the onset of this administration, we must prepare ourselves to go beyond our comfort zones as we walk the path we have willingly chosen. The journey ahead of us will not be easy, but if we fight for what is right and predicate our every action on our love for our fellowmen and women, our people will surely benefit from the results of our individual choices.

Let us therefore offer ourselves for the sake of others and take to heart the lessons we learn so that we may be rewarded spiritually and become worthy recipients of Allah’s manifold blessings and protection. As we join hands towards achieving our shared goals, I hope that we will transcend our differences, break the chains of divisiveness, and emerge strong and united as one nation.
May we all have a solemn and meaningful observance.

COMELEC-EU demands justice for slain colleague

The COMELEC-EU vehemently condemns the killing of Mutia, Zambanga del Norte Election Officer Maricel Adritico Peralta by unidentified gunmen last night, June 9, 2022, at Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Election Assistant Marites Inding was in the car with Peralta during the shooting incident, but survived the attack.

National Flag Day in the Philippines is celebrated on May 28.

It commemorates the first use of the Philippine flag after the victory in the Battle of Alapan in 1898.The current national flag of the Philippines was created by the Filipino revolutionary Emilio Aguinaldo in 1897.

On March 6, 1965, Presidential Proclamation No. 374 was issued declaring May 28 as National Flag Day to commemorate the date the national emblem was first unfurled after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated the Spanish forces in the Battle at Alapan, Imus, Cavite in 1898. On May 23, 1994, Executive Order No. 79 was issued extending the period of celebrating National Flag Day from May 28 to June 12. All Filipinos are encouraged to display the Philippine flag in all offices, agencies and instruments of government, business establishments, schools, and private homes throughout this period.

This is to give respect and reverence to our symbol of national sovereignty and solidarity. The Philippine flag is the embodiment of all our country’s ideals, culture and tradition.

ONSET OF THE RAINY SEASON
The presence of frontal system and the occurrence of severe thunderstorms have brought widespread rains during the last five days in areas under Type I climate and other parts of the country. Moreover, southwesterly windflow was also observed during the past few days. This satisfies the criteria of the start of the rainy season over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.

Intermittent rains, associated with the Southwest (SW) monsoon will start to affect Metro Manila and the western sections of the country. However, breaks in rainfall events (also known as monsoon breaks), which can last for several days or weeks may still occur.
Meanwhile, the ongoing La Niña may still affect some parts of the country, which may increase the likelihood of above normal rainfall conditions in the coming months.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, DOST-PAGASA will continue to monitor the day-to-day weather and long-term climate situation and provide updates when significant changes occur.

Accomplishment Report on Alleged Vote Buying Activities estimated amount of 1,939,000.00 at Brgy Dulop, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur

At around 12:05PM, May 08, 2022, this station received report from Mun. Mayor Joan Abejuela asking for police assistance relative to an alleged vote buying activities on the above said place of incident. Upon receipt of said report, PNP elements of this station together with personnel from 1st ZSPMFC personnel from 905th MC, RMFB9 responded to the aforesaid place of incident to verify the veracity of said report and conduct investigation.

The herein Municipal Mayor responded to the above said place and vividly saw/witnessed the said vote buying activities, prompting her to call for police assistance. At the same time the barangay officials of said place immediately scampered heading out of the said barangay health center leaving two (2) female personalities.

That then an inventory was conducted in the presence of Ms. Evalyn Hassan, Election Officer III and yielded the following as follows: one (1) pc HBW black ballpen, one (1) pc Titus Doodle ballpen, stapled CAMADA Forms of Purok 2 Brgy. Dulop, Dumingag, ZDS/Team Yu-Ariosa, Paglinawan Jamero consisting Fifteen (15) pages, Document containing names of residents of Purok 3 consisting nine (9) pages, one bundle having forty one (41) pieces of white envelope containing Two Thousand Five Hundred Pesos each (Php 2,500.00), thirteen (13) bundles of white envelope with each bundle having fifty (50) pieces of white envelope containing respectively a cash worth Two Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php 2,500.00), one (1) bundle of Five Hundred Peso Bill worth Fifty Thousand Pesos (Php 50,000.00), one (1) bundle of Five Hundred Peso Bill worth Twenty Six Thousand Five Hundred Pesos, Tupad Workers Payroll Form and Voter’s name with precinct number.

The total estimated confiscated amounted to One Million Nine Hundred Thirty-Nine Thousand Pesos (Php 1,939,000.00). They were respectively informed of their constitutional rights in the dialect they understood and were brought to this office for proper disposition of the case.
