THE WALL #9 - NIBERA 🌿
In this series of posts, we highlight the graphic designers, working in the shadow, while often being the authors of true masterpieces: the artworks, which contribute significantly to the music's storytelling. We propose "a wall", containing some of their art, watchable at a glance.
Unless you've been living in a cave, it's impossible that you didn't notice Space Textures' spectacular cosmic artworks. Behind them is Nibera from Slovenia, an impressive character who lives with one foot in the cosmos, one in nature and a third one in the retro ages (yes, it's okay for her to have three feet, she's not from this planet).
After having completed the master's program at the Academy of Fine Art and Design in Ljubljana, she became a music and event photographer. Then, due to the pandemic crisis that cancelled most events, she had to diversify herself: she taught for a while, ran a photography studio and became extremely prolific in various domains: animations, music videos, album covers, graphic design, fine art photography. Today, at the top of her artistic career, she published hundreds of pieces, has written various ebooks to share knowledge, participated in countless art exhibitions and got 200k followers on Instagram: this is what you call "an inspiring success story" or "how a courageous artist has been perseverant enough to live from her passion."
Space Textures' label owner Ferniemusic noticed her work on Art Grab, a platform specialising in selling licensed images and animations. In a 2022 interview for "The State Of The Arts", he commented on the visual side of his label:
"I wanted to present Space Textures as a credible and serious outlet for quality music, and for me, the artwork does represent a large proportion of a label’s identity – not just the music it releases. Nibera was someone I discovered having searched for someone making artwork that had a surreal feeling with a 'Space’ leaning. Discovering her was massive for me and helped shape the direction and also show artists that we are a complete package for them to come onboard with. Since then, Nibera has done her thing and with each cover commission, the quality just keeps coming. Massive credit has to go to her work for getting our sound out there through visual art."
