We're keeping the party going here at Abaset HQ after a wonderful day at The Egypt Centre's 25th anniversary celebrations yesterday as today marks THREE YEARS since the launch of the Egypt Centre Online Collection.
It was amazing to hear from so many staff, students, volunteers, researchers, and members of the public about the ways Abaset has improved their engagement with the collection.
Here's a few screenshots from yesterday's event highlighting the ways in which Abaset has been utilised.

An innovative new trail available this weekend:
egyptcentre.abasetcollections.com/Trails/Details/111?trail=Minecraft_Materials

Max (aged 6) has identified 20 different materials which you can find in both The Egypt Centre and the world of Minecraft! Visit the museum to follow as an audio tour, or follow along virtually.

Max has found all the objects and researched their properties, even recording the narration!

Great job Max!

Did you know that some of the materials found in the Egypt Centre can also be found in the world of Minecraft? Many thanks to Max (aged 6) for creating this trail with the help of resources at https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Minecraft_Wiki for the additional information on material properties.

A great new trail from The Egypt Centre. Congratulations to Ken Griffin from us all at Abaset HQ on his well deserved new role as Curator - can't wait for more collaborations with this amazing collection.

For some people, museum objects evoke memories. The objects in this trail were selected by the Egypt Centre Curator, Dr Ken Griffin, because they remind him of people (both ancient and modern), events, or have played a role in helping to develop his career.

Happy halloween everyone! To get you in the spooky mood (and in anticipation of the free "Daemons in The Egypt Centre" curator's talk on Wednesday), check out this Daemons and Protective Deities trail: egyptcentre.abasetcollections.com/Trails/Details/7?trail=Daemons_And_Deities.

The word ‘daemon’ generally means good spirit or demi-god; those living being who are not easily categorised as humans, nor animals, nor gods with cult centres. Often the way they look symbolised their characteristics and otherness. It is important to realise that in ancient Egypt, daemons could...
