Tinubu described Atiku’s attempt to access his (Tinubu) University records as a wild goose chase because it was already too late as the Nigerian court was no longer admitting evidence.
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has told the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, cannot use his (Tinubu) Chicago State University (CSU) academic records against him at the Nigerian presidential election petition tribunal.

Tinubu described Atiku’s attempt to access his (Tinubu) University records as a wild goose chase because it was already too late as the Nigerian court was no longer admitting evidence.

A global financial firm, JP Morgan says Nigeria's net foreign exchange (FX) reserves fell to $3.7 billion as of 2022, contrary to $36.61 billion the Central Bank of Nigeria posted on August 17 on its website.

JP Morgan’s estimate is much lower than the net figure of $14 billion reported at the end of 2021.

This was contained in the bank's latest report on Nigeria titled “Nigeria: Reform pause rather than fatigue”.

JP Morgan noted that the lower-than-reported forex reserve is the result of larger currency swaps and borrowings against the forex reserve.

Nasir El-Rufai is relishing his love for a Bob Marley soundtrack that decried betrayal by close friends and allies, days after he was forced to abandon his ministerial bid over insidious attacks from Nuhu Ribadu and the backstabbing he suffered from his political protege and Kaduna governor Uba Sani.

Mr El-Rufai was nominated for a ministerial position by Mr Tinubu last month, but he abruptly withdrew his interest after Mr Riibadu, the national security adviser, withheld clearance for the former Kaduna governor, leaving senators no choice but to suspend his confirmation.

He subsequently departed Nigeria for Egypt, from where he was expected to visit Europe on a study trip. The politician, prominent for his social media presence, has, however, continued to drop what he described as ‘nuggets’ on his Twitter handle.

On Sunday, he reminded his 2.3 million followers of his love for Bob Marley’s 1976 hit ‘Who the Cap Fit’ and urged his followers to “enjoy your Sunday with the song and lyrics that are timeless.”

A good number of people, including me, seems opposed to Nigeria leading the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to war in Niger. In one of the most telling anti-war metaphors, a Nigerian columnist and Editor, Lasisi Olagunju, likened military intervention to rubbing buttocks with the porcupine.

Doves everywhere are flying the flag of peace. Protesters are also waving placards reminding Nigeria’s President and ECOWAS Chairman, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not to start a war he cannot finish.

Some Nigerians on X, previously known as Twitter, have criticised a viral story claiming that 62% of Nigerians think that the nation is progressing under President Bola Tinubu's government.

A survey conducted by CMC Connect LLP, a Lagos-based public perception consulting and strategic communication firm, in partnership with Analysts Data Services and Resources (ADSR), reported that 62 percent of Nigerians believed the country will move forward under the administration of President Tinubu.

The firms said a total of 1,714 participants across the country’s six geopolitical zones took part in the survey and shared their opinions and views concerning the first 60 days of Tinubu’s administration.

The report reads: “38% do not see the country moving forward under the current administration, while 62% do.

Human rights activist and candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 presidential election, Omoyele Sowore has described the Nigerian army as the most powerful political party in Nigeria.

Sowore said this in a tweet on Sunday, adding that the military’s attitude towards the ongoing political crisis in the Niger Republic showed that a substantial number of soldiers supported a particular candidate during February 2023 presidential election.

He said, “Since the boys scouts struck in Niger Republic, I realized the Nigerian military is the most powerful unregistered political party in Nigeria, they too are for political power through the backdoor (a majority of them even had a candidate in the last election), you don't want to know how many twitter influencers are in the Nigerian Army at this time. Unbelievable! .”

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has confirmed that undisclosed amounts of money have been sent to members of the upper legislative chamber to use to enjoy their holidays.

Akpabio made the revelation in a video which went viral on Wednesday morning while addressing his colleagues before the adjournment of a motion moved by one of the senators.

In the viral video, Akpabio said, “In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the clerk of the national assembly.”

But when his statement sparked a rowdy moment on the floor of the Senate, he rephrased the statement and said, “I withdraw that statement. “In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the senate president has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return.”

Vice President Kashim Shettima said on Tuesday that with the removal of fuel subsidy, Nigeria is projected to save over 15 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in one year.

Shettima said this at the one-day workshop organised by the National Council on Climate Change with the theme “Unpacking the outcomes of the 58 sessions of the subsidiary bodies of the United Nations framework convention on climate change,” organised by the National Council on Climate Change.

Shettima, who was represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Senator Ibrahim Hassan, noted that Nigeria was on course to achieve the nationally-determined contribution targets.

The battle continues!

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has filed a separate case with No. 23-5099 (N. D. III.) at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against President Bola Tinubu in the United States.

Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communications to Atiku who made this known in a statement on Sunday said the development followed the decision of the former Vice-President to withdraw an existing case before a circuit court in Illinois.

He asserted that it was funny that Tinubu and his supporters were rejoicing over the development as if it were a Supreme Court judgment.

He maintained that Tinubu’s academic records from primary school till university remained questionable, hence the President’s failure to identify a single former classmate.

Shaibu said Tinubu "fell from the sky", noting that he has no classmates

Omoyele Sowore, the candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2023 presidential election on Monday said poor Nigerians should be allowed to revolt since they won't be allowed to breathe.

This comes amid the rising inflation and hardship in the country following the removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit, otherwise known as petrol.

"Let the poor revolt, since they won’t let them breathe!" Sowore wrote on his Twitter page on Monday.
