Heavy snow is falling across the Vale of Evesham, as the Met Office admit that "they weren't expecting so much heavy snow".

BREAKING NEWS: HI DE HI STAR DIES AT 79

Very sad news for all Hi De Hi fans, Ruth Madoc, who played Gladys, has passed away at 79.

She had surgery for a fall earlier this week, but died from complications.

She was married to actor Philip Madoc, who played the German captain in Dad's Army: The Deadly Attachment.

BREAKING NEWS: LOCAL MP WILL STAND DOWN IN 2024

Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid has announced that he'll stand down at the next General Election after 14 years in politics. He has given no reason for his departure, but the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak thanked him for his service and ended his reply to Javid with "May the force be with you" referring to their love of Star Wars.

MISSING MAN: BROTHER PAYS TRIBUTE

The brother of missing Pershore man Harry Hall-Roberts has paid an emotional tribute to his younger brother, after police discovered a body on Wednesday in the River Avon alongside the Workman Gardens, in Evesham.

Roland Hall-Roberts described Harry as a "lad like no other" and that he was struggling to come to terms with the latest news, adding “We believe he wanted to convert his soul from this life to a life in Heaven and I have to accept that’s what he wanted".

Harry went missing last Friday (Nov 11) before West Mercia Police found his belongings inside a car parked in the town centre earlier this week.

Editor: On a personal note, I knew of Harry in my 'other life' and he always came across as such a lovely chap, always happy to have a chat. And I for one will miss him greatly. God bless you Harry - if was lovely to know you in passing.

HAVE YOU SEEN HARRY?

The family of Harry Hall-Roberts are frantically looking for him after he was reported missing from Pershore on Friday (11 Nov).

He is thought to be in the Evesham area after his car was found by West Mercia Police.

Harry is 5'10 with long brown hair, green eyes and medium build. He often wears blue suede shoes with neon soles, dark chinos and a quilted jacket.

Actor Bill Treacher, who played Arthur Fowler in the early days of the drama, has passed away aged 92.

He also had a small part in an episode of Dad's Army.

DING D**G! LESLIE PHILLIPS DIES AGED 98

Much loved Carry On actor Leslie Phillips, renowned for his womanising catchphrases "Ding D**g" and "Hell-lo", has died aged 98, with his wife Zara at his side.

He starred in Carry On movies, The Navy Lark and he was the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter movies.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW - SAY NO - SAY GO!!

That's the message from West Mercia Police following reports of 'Nottingham Knockers' in the Evesham area.

Nottingham Knockers - or hawkers - call on properties unexpected and attempt to sell poor quality goods at very high prices in an intimidating way. Their aim, maybe, is to enter your property and 'case the joint' for a future robbery.

How does the scam work?

Nottingham Knockers are doorstep callers who offer a selection of household products for sale. The scam is believed to have originated in Nottingham, hence the name.

The callers are often ex-convicts who claim to be part of a rehabilitation scheme which probably doesn't exist.

The scammer buys a bag of goods off the person who employs them and are allowed to keep anything they make above this price.

Callers offer householders the goods, at inflated prices, but often use the sale as a ruse for checking out a person's home and gullibility.

Many people will buy something and pay them just to get rid of them, but once the money has been handed over, the scam can really begin.

West Mercia have heard of such callers in nearby areas including Gloucestershire and are warning residents to only open their front doors.......only IF they know the visitor.

Do NOT open doors to strangers!

RETAIL PARK CRASH - CAR TURNS UPSIDE DOWN

Emergency crews were called to the Evesham Retail Park on Worcester Road, on Monday afternoon, following reports of a two-car crash within the car park resulting in one of the cars overturning!

The female driver was looked after by paramedics, along with many members of the public who came to the drivers' aid. West Mercia Police have said that no further action was required.

West Mercia Police would like to speak to this man following a burglary and an assault at the Coral betting shop in Evesham's High Street. The incident happened at around 09.45am last Saturday (Oct 22).

Penny Mordaunt has stood down at the VERY last minute.

WHO WILL BE THE NEW PRIME MINISTER?

It looks like there will 3 participants in the Conservative Party Leadership Contest.....the 2nd version!

Penny Mordaunt has announced that she will be running for the top job, but she only has 21 MPs supporting her including West Worcestershire MP Harriet Baldwin.

Rishi Sunak has the most supporters at 95, including Worcester's Robin Walker, Bromsgrove's Sajid Javid & Cheltenham's Alex Chalk.

The biggest surprise is former Prime Minister Boris Johnson who, despite being ousted from office in the summer, is flying home from the Caribbean, even though like Sunak, he's yet to announce his taking part. He has 45 supporters, including local resident MP Nadine Dorries.

The winner will be announced by Friday next week, or even as early as Monday.

Robbie Coltrane, the Scottish born comic actor of film and TV, has died suddenly aged 72.

He was well known appearing in many TV programmes and movies from Blackadder and Still Game, to Harry Potter & Cracker.

A44 CRASH CLOSES ROAD

Police and paramedics have been called to a crash between a car and a van on the A44 between Chadbury and Fladbury.

One driver has suffered a minor injury.

HWFR were not in attendance.

MISSING MAN SOUGHT BY POLICE

West Mercia Police would like to speak to 45 year old Lee Witherford following an assault at Holmwood Gardens in Evesham on Wednesday.

Following the attack, Mr Witherford has disappeared and police are urgently trying to contact him, but say that he is NOT a danger to the public.

Royal Mail have announced that 10,000 jobs are to go, including 6000 redundancies by next August, blaming ongoing strikes and financial losses.

NATWEST TO CLOSE BRANCHES ACROSS THE UK

NatWest are to close 43 branches across the United Kingdom, with two near the Vale of Evesham.

The Bath Road branch in Cheltenham will close, along with the main branch in Bromsgrove forcing customers to travel to nearby Redditch or Kidderminster.

NatWest will close these branches between January and March next year, blaming their customer's changing habits.

The Evesham branch, which is undergoing some TLC, is safe.

British born actress Angela Lansbury, who starred as Jessica Fletcher in the US drama Murder She Wrote, has passed away at her Los Angeles home aged 96, just 5 days before her 97th birthday.

JIM DAVIDSON RETURNS TO EVESHAM NEXT YEAR, AND NO BAN!

Some may say he's controversial, but one of Britain's most famous comedians is returning to the town that tried to ban him!

"Jim Davidson - Not Yet Cancelled" will be entertaining the Vale at Evesham Town Hall next February. Evesham Town Council made the headlines across the country for all the wrong reasons, when they debated on whether or not he should perform his perceived racist & sexist material on council property.

But the whole thing turned out to be a debacle with many town councillors agreeing for the show to continue, and the then town clerk Francesca Pridding resigning after only being in the job for a few months.

Mr Davidson will perform at the Town Hall on Sunday, February 19 in two shows at 5pm or 8pm. Fans can purchase tickets, priced at £25, from Evesham Live.

ONE RUSHED TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING PERSHORE CRASH

Emergency crews were called to a two-car crash in Pershore yesterday evening. Two fire appliances were sent from Pershore and Evesham to the incident at the junction of Worcester Road & Three Springs Road.

Paramedics treated one man at the scene before conveying him to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. The police also attended.

HAVE YOU SEEN MISSING WORCESTER WOMAN?

Police are appealing for help from the public following the disappearance of a Worcester woman known only as Samantha?

The 51-year-old was reported missing at 10am this morning (Monday) from the St Johns area of the city, and West Mercia have said that this is quite out of character for her.

She is described as 5'1, medium build with short brown hair, wearing a black hoody, brown trousers and grey trainers.

If you have seen her, or know of her whereabouts, please call West Mercia Police on 999.
