On May 15th of 2004, 19 year old Avi Keys led police on a high speed chase through Fairbanks Alaska while intoxicated. Police caught him, but not the passenger in the car with him, and they didn't search the vehicle. A month and a half later police finally looked in the trunk and found a severed head and numerous weapons. Right away, Key’s passenger who’d escaped, Jason Fisher was a suspect, and it appeared as though Keys had been witness to a murder. But by the time law enforcement put together a case against the Fisher, Keys had vanished.
At first it looked like he was perhaps laying low to avoid DUI charges, but as the years went on, law enforcement became convinced he didn’t vanish of his own free will. He would have at least contacted his family to let them know he was alright, but no one has heard from him since that day. Key’s case has not gathered a lot of publicity, possibly because he was involved in criminal activity, but Fairbanks law enforcement, and Keys' family still want answers.
