NEWS ARTICLE | Senior Scouting Resumes Activity at Ibayiw INHS

Ibayiw Integrated National High School Troop Leaders commences scouting again after 5 years of inactivity with of around 100 registered participants in the school year 2023-2024.

According to the Scoutmaster Jeffrey Villanueva, scouting organization became inoperative because of the global pandemic that affected Ibayiw Integrated National High School and many others.

"ipagpatuloy niyo lang yung scouting hanggang maging eagle scouts sila dahil marami silang matututunan sa sarili, pag-aaral ng mabuti. Basta ipagpatuloy nila yung scouting dahil malayo ang nararating ng isang batang scout", Scoutmaster Jeffrey Villanueva said.

Scoutmasters and Troop Leaders have high expectations on the new and current scouts of the school year 2023-2024 and continues to provide programs that will help not only the school of Ibayiw INHS, but also for the community and environment.

READ | Attractive Walls : Empty Mind

Teachers were initially surprised when our Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte advised the removal of classroom decorations in the new school year. Specifically stated in the memorandum that beginning the official class opening on August 21, 2023, any form of classroom decorations shall all be removed which is in accordance with the DepEd Order 21 otherwise known as the "No Decor Policy ".

DepEd Order 21 emphasizes and states that schools school grounds, classrooms and all its walls, and other school facilities should be clean and free from unnecessary artwork, decorations, tarpaulin, and posters at all times.” This connotes taking out everything on the wall. The administration considers that doing the removal of decoration will allow learners to focus on their studies. Duterte even reiterated that classrooms and schools should be clean and functional and essentially directed towards the delivery of quality teaching which I definitely agree with.

Distraction is common when it's bombarded with a lot of decoration, which obviously catches the students' attention much in specific ways . Instead of just listening to the teacher something else catches their eye. In addition, the classroom is more pleasant to look at if it looks clean.

According to Poa, the spokesperson of DepEd, "We want this year to remove everything from the walls because most (sic) often than not, the decorations used last year are still there. What happens is that it distracts the learners." Cleaner classroom, less waste. Less hassle for teachers. In addition, Poa said that they can still use a visual aids and they can still show the efforts and beauty of their works there.

According to some students of Ibayiw Integrated National HighSchool ( IINHS ), it is not bothering because it is more inviting to teach if the classroom walls have designs. In the other side, some of students agree with this because they said that it's better to look and it's better to teach in a classroom that looks clean.

Heavily decorated classrooms can be bombarded at time especially when students have been presented already with too much visual information in class which then interferes with their memory and ability to focus.

Given the purpose of the No Decor Policy, it is prevalent to understand that a clean and pleasant classroom that is more attractive to students or people. So, keep it clean and remember the most important thing for the student to know is to learn and listen.

READ | Puberty: Understanding Your Body and Emotions

Puberty can be defined as stage of life in which an individual experiences hormonal changes. Hormones are the chemicals within your body which sends "messages" through your blood to your organs, skin, and other muscle tissues, these "messages" tells our body parts what to do and when to do it.

For males, you might notice your testicles getting bigger, your voice getting deeper, shoulders getting wider, erections happen more often, wet dreams (ej*******on of s***m during sleep), you gain more body hair, the p***s and sc***um with get larger, some males get growth on their chest (this is called gynecomastia and this usually goes away after 6 - 18 months within its first appearance), our body usually stops growing at age 16 but your muscles will continue to grow.

For females, you may first notice your breasts to start growing, starting from small, tender, and firm lumps called buds under one or both of your ni***es, your breasts will then get larger over the next 1 or 2 years, like males, you also start to get p***c hair, your hips also start to widen, period (menstruation) starts 2 years after the buds appear, usually around the age 9 - 16. Most girls get their growth spurt 1-2 years before they get their first period, they usually get an additional 1-2 inch of height before they stop growing.

Everyone goes through puberty differently, some may start earlier, there are late bloomers, even so, you shouldn't feel ashamed of how you look because everyone excels at something and everyone is unique and special in their own ways.

Hormones can also alter our emotions. Usually when puberty starts, our emotions become more complicated, you might start to feel more insecure, you start to ask more why's?, you might have shorter patience, if you ever feel anxious or confused about these things, you may talk to someone you feel comfortable talking about these topics enough in order to open up because bottling up your emotions can lead to great consequences.

READ | The Comeback Of Complete Uniform

This October, teachers, advisers and even former high schools encourage students to wear complete uniforms after the comeback of face to face classes while transitioning from the recovery of the onslaught brought about by the Covid 19. Despite being so common as a school to see students wearing complete uniforms, it surprises teachers and staff that the indefatigable comeback of complete uniform policy surprises students who seemed to have forgotten it.

The peculiarity of the trending fashion entices students who have found fashionable clothing style and developed hobby of picking and dressing up. This fondness of the fashion era was brought about by the pandemic where learners felt the boredom and homesick people's curiosity, thus ignited curiosity to stand up and find out about the outfits that many people are keeping on trend. It pushes teenagers particularly students to style every time they go out or even not which seemed to have been adapted even when the full face-to-face returned

Styling out outfits has interested everyone due to its popularity among teenagers, children and even parents who supported their children's interest. Because of this liking, students started hoarding clothes in different styles and sizes. With just the idea of being pretty or updated, many students don't mind and worry about buying their own dresses thinking that their clothes will be accepted inside the school.

The idea of freestyle might have been accepted for some reason for the sense of self-expression, however it should uphold due to limitation. Specific days were given for free styles let's say during events, but specific policies regarding this must be carried out. This is to secure the safety and well-being of the students inside the school.

Students' compliance to complete uniform could be linked to management of students' behavior, test performance, and attendance which was positively affected by wearing a school uniform at school. With the idea of the advantages of wearing school uniforms it brought about the promise of equality and even denounces differences among students from various societal classes.

Designated complete uniform policy could maintain schools' good background, avoid complicated issues around modesty, offensive symbols, and even text and lessen the need for teachers to monitor what children are wearing which goes against the prescribed school dress code.

"I also think that uniforms have reduced peer problems. People have more friends that they wouldn't normally have because of the way they dress." As Mr. Luis Rodarte quoted, wearing a complete uniform plays a key role in promoting pride, self-confidence, and a feeling of belonging within the student body. These factors contribute to students' wellbeing, removing the additional pressures of deciding what to wear and added stress of meeting the expectations of their peers.

To sum it up, students also need to know what they do and don't do towards their school. Looking back at it, uniforms make for one less distraction during school. By wearing what is prescribed and formal, surely children can become more focused on their school status and studies. Specifically , if fashion trends and owning the latest styles become the foremost priority, it could possibly lead to downturn in that child’s progress at school. Truly, with school uniform being implemented, students can express themselves in more meaningful ways, which would definitely help develop their creativity and disciplined side.

EDITORIAL ARTICLE | REAL-EYES-ation: What Should’ve Been Done

For the past few years, there were a lot of students conducting probing the effects of wearing a school uniform on students behavior, academic performance, and school environment. Last year was immensely remarkable when schools allowed students to wear certain kinds of shirts, considered to be giving comfort and fashion among them. As we transitioned to the new normal and eventually putting back into its usual routine, schools bring back the complete uniform rules again to maintain formality among students. As a student who notices this kind of small disagreement, I agree on this comeback.

Teenagers usually wear freestyle that they are used to as long as it gives them sense of self-expression and identity. When face to face classes started last year, still a lot of students weren't fully aware of wearing complete uniform all week. Problems arise when the fashion they are used to wear starts to steal the formality of students wearing the complete uniform code. In the contrary of the idea that freestyle is allowed for some schools mostly for college students, Senior High School and Junior High School in public schools, wearing of freestyle should have and must have a limitation. Strict adherence to the uniform code is needed as schools had already assigned a day for students to wear freestyle so that students could still have a sense of self-expression

Wearing a complete uniform is a way to become more formal, respectful and practice students' good behavior. It is also a way for us to get to recognize, for our school to be recognized by others, that we’ve been this kind of student. Factors like students behavior, test performance, and attendance were positively affected by wearing a school uniform in a public school. Specifically, wearing a school uniform promotes equality or denounces differences among students from various societal classes. Students also become more disciplined when they are in their prescribed uniform which further results in being academically focused, thus, improving their academic performance.

In conclusion, we need to support and rely on this comeback. We should wear complete uniforms more often and increase our liking to wear the prescribed dress code while at school. We have the day to be free and wear what we want so we are not that strict to complete a uniform dress code. It was our tradition, we grow to wear complete uniforms, and we are not growing while disliking it. We all have been aware now to wear complete uniform so as we please, we will be glad if we follow our guides to be the inspiration and modality of others, especially the young ones.

Be the inspiration of others for them to grow good and be the model of themselves.

EDITORIAL ARTICLE | Miss Philippines: Un-FORESEEN-ate Exit

Michelle Dee, Makati's pride, is the official candidate of the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2023, which took place in El Salvador, Sunday, November 19, 2023. Michelle Dee competed with other 83 candidates to get the most coveted title of Miss Universe 2023 yet unforeseen circumstances led to her unfortunate early exit.

Obviously, Michelle Dee delivered an electrifying and mesmerizing performance in different categories particularly in her red swimsuit, national costume, and evening gown. Her advocacy was also remarkable as it emphasizes the need for an open-mind to the nature and well-being of autistic people by accepting them whole-heartedly. With these impressive aspects, Michelle Dee got included in the top 10 being and was among the three gold winners for the pageant's "Voice for Change".

It was unfortunate that despite the above-mentioned positive things about Dee's performance, she failed to make it to the top 5. This resulted in countries advancing to the top 5 including Australia, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Thailand, and Colombia. With an early exit, a lot of Filipinos were confused as to why Michelle Dee didn't make it to the top 5. For some people who are pageant enthusiasts it was very alarming and a suitable explanation should be given to the general public. The idea of grace and beauty in combination made Michelle Dee someone who deserves to be on top 5 by showing the world her captivating performance.

Despite not winning the country's fifth crown, Michelle Dee won the netizen's heart. Filipinos are beyond proud of her. She might not be able to get the crown but for her co-Filipinos still consider her as the reigning queen.

Some Filipinos were even triggered by a leaked post showing the initial Miss Universe top 5. In the said post, Miss Philippines was included yet the post was taken down after a few minutes. They said that Miss Philippines was just replaced by Miss Thailand afterwards, then creation suspicion.

Miss Philippines' early departure from the competition is undoubtedly disappointing for many. Despite her early exit, she has left an indelible mark through her grace, intelligence, and poise. Actually, a lot of people now look up to her, then regarding her too well for the Miss Universe pageant.

With a controversial leaked post, do you really believe that the Philippines got robbed with her possible Queen title?

READ | Styling S-COOL Skirts or STAND-hard on the Given Length?

The junior and senior high school skirt official length standards will now be set and implemented at Ibayiw Integrated National High School. After discussing the appropriate length for female students' skirts, members of the School Governing Council (SGC) decided that Junior High School Skirts should fall below the knee, while that of the senior high school should fall above the knee. Regarding this skirt length concern, teachers never fail to remind female students on wearing skirts that are of appropriate length.

First and foremost, it is evident that students are only changing the length of their skirts for their own personal reasons. Junior and senior wear shorter skirts than its supposed length. This scenario seems to haunt every now and then as students consistently do not adhere by disregarding the school dress code.

It is necessary that skirts' length be imperative to consider in an educational environment. Dress codes at schools contribute to a respectful and concentrated environment. Navigating junior and senior high school preferences requires striking the correct balance between dressing code compliance and self-expression. It helps to identify which among the students is Junior and Senior students. This dtricr self-expression and compliance can aid in assisting the education department's mission of a MATATAG Agenda.

In Junior high school students which compose of students who are typically younger, a more conservative approach might be favored to ensure an immediate focus on education and minimize distractions. Meanwhile, Senior high school students who are now transitioning into adulthood, a more mature approach to fashion can be expected. By understanding these developmental stages in a nuanced way ensures a necessary to balance these expectations.

Junior and Senior High Schools debate over skirt lengths is about more than just fashion; it's also about fostering a welcoming and healthy learning environment. The secret to ensuring that the emphasis stays on education rather than fashion choices is to strike a balance between respecting individuality and upholding professionalism.

LATHALAIN

Sabi niya:" Continue your dream, sabi nga ni Father: pray, hope, and don't worry.

FEATURE ARTICLE | An a-MEL-zing story to LIB-OON your Dreams

Success starts in dreaming, it is the will to accomplish something in life. However, not everyone were able to take the paths of the plans they wanted to. Are you one of those aspiring individuals who didn't get to pursue the dream you are aiming for?

It is the sad reality, there are things you wanted to get but can't have it. The same fate of that little boy who endured and struggled the toils of life ahead of him, as his father died when he was barely eight years old.

The circumstances has been tough, and as the eldest child, he had no choice but to take the burden so that his family will be able to get through the hardships of life. He wanted to devote his life to the Lord, as he really aspires to be a priest and serve the Almighty faithfully. But the responsibility of an eldest child prevented him to do so;his family needs him, he must provide and help them.

With the goals set to live on, he took Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Major in History in Laguna State Polytechnic University - Sta. Cruz, Laguna, formerly known as Laguna College of Arts and Trades (LCAT). Then took Master of Arts in Social Sciences, and finished his doctorate degree, Doctor of Education Major in Educational Management.

He may not be able to pursue his dreams, but God made him see that there are better plans stored for him. Who would have thought that these great things will come on his way?

With his heart set to love and serve, that boy mentioned above is now the Local Historian of Lumban and a School Principal. Specifically, the new Principal of Ibayiw Integrated National Highschool, none other than, Dr. Mel Anthony P. Liboon.

Dr. Liboon believes that, "God has a better plan. Sometimes, God destroys your plan because your plan might destroy you." His faith and integrity manifested as what he is today.

Thus, his story is an inspiring reminder that you must continue and go with the flow. So, if ever you're one of those aspiring individuals, who didn't happen to reach their dreams according to what they have planned, then always put in your mind to continue and live on to what you have started to take on.

With these varieties of purposes, students are much hooked on how technologies benefit them. Thus, reaching the stage of full technological inclination by knowing how technology helps and works.

Although there are some people who don’t have any access to technology especially the elders, technology is a secure spot among students who consider it essential. For instance, when given a mountain of homework, students can have an ease of access to reliable information in just one click by researching it over the internet.

Some students says that they can’t live without technology because it is the key that help them easily study. It gives a big contribution to todays life. By using it students become more productive. Just typing what you want to see and in a minute you can see it through internet.

On the contrary , despite technology's advantages, still it poses a problem as the rate of in-depth skills's application and knowledge are decreasing, then impacting the natural capacity of human minds. For example, students don’t listen to their teachers while discussing because they can just access the lesson on the internet any time they want to. This scenario gives us representation on why careful and smart usage of technology is necessary.

In conclusion, technology serves a huge role in students life. Thus, students should know technology's limitations and effects.

Control and know how to use technology properly. This is how technology can be a MODERN AGE BEST FRIEND.
