There was a time in my life when I would never order or eat anything watermelon when in the company of non-Black people.

If you don’t know why, keep reading.

There has always been both stereotypes and minsinformation when it comes to Black Folks and watermelon.

The imagery had been used to degrade us when in reality it’s what helped saved us in the Jim Crowe era.

^^all of that is enough for a google search.

Now that I have learned MY history beyond the revisionist texts so many of us have grown accustomed,

I have also learned what the watermelon means for the PEOPLE of .

Thanks to a quick search I was able to find a article (that needs some numbers to be updated).

The article briefly outlines the meaning of watermelon for Palestinians.

The google search and writing this post took less than 10 minutes.

I’m sharing this to amplify the voice of someone I met this year who lives close to the ongoing conflict between Israel & Palestine.

NO ONE should have to live in fear of their home being bombed.

The past FOUR administrations (and probably more than that) have disgraced our country with their foreign policy- or lack thereof.

, I am demanding a ceasefire. I DO NOT condone my tax payer dollars funding a war. Especially one taking the lives of innocents. This is the work you signed up for. I am your constituent. I demand a ceasefire.

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I become a knix ambassador.

In these past 365 days, I’ve grown so loyal to this brand, which is somewhat rare for me. As a Black creator it’s really hard to find brands that are truly inclusive. The team behind is one of the best that I’ve ever worked with.

Just left £ Town.

Outside of seeing The Queen Bey, London was not giving what it was supposed to have gave. Something about the place that caused America just doesn’t sit right in my spirit.

I’ll probably never tell y’all the full story, but just know that London Town (and possibly the entire UK) will never be graced with my presence again.

The beauty of being nomadic is that most of the time we can pretend to be locals. Last weekend we decided to be tourists.

this was Lafayette’s first time visiting the Eiffel (visit his insta for more pics of him).

If you’ve ever been to Paris, then you know this is probably the least interesting place to visit in this city which is so full of history. BUT I need to live my Mary Kate and Ashley Passport to Paris fantasy!

We genuinely had no intentions on being in Paris at this time, but life is funny like that & I’m so grateful that plans changed.

More to come from this impromptu Parisian voyage.

Please tell me why somebody's grandfather came up to me in Madrid talking about "I'm looking for an African girlfriend", and this was a completely different old man from the one a few days prior who was asking me to go Retiro Park with him.
Marcus went into a food place for 30 seconds, and some man in Paris was looking at me like he wanted to take a bite.

My mother can corroborate my stories because I was on the phone with her when some of these instances took place.

TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY OF MY FUNDRAISER.

Also, I thought I’d share why I love this cause so much.

Kids deserve a place to be a kid. For q***r kids, those places are dwindling by the day. As legislature across the country continues to attack q***r expression, it is important that we figure out how to provide q***r youth safe spaces.

CampOUT is q***r founded and q***r lead. The founders are personal friends of mine who I’ve known for years, and if you knew their stories about growing up q***r, you would be quick to donate.

All that to say: yes, camp is only a week, but even if for a week we can help these kids shut out the rest of the world and just soak up some q***r joy, then it’s all worth it.

As a board member, I get to sit up close and watch some incredible individuals put their hearts and souls into this camp. Mind you, they’re having to mull through being q***r in this world, yet they still choose to bring light. That’s a different kind of strength.

As a Black woman, i align myself with that type of resilience. For me, q***r folks have always provided a safe space. This is my way of returning the favor.

So please donate if you can. It’s for the kids.

To say that I’m feeling blessed would be an understatement.

What I find most interesting about life so far is the inevitability of change. A year ago, the thought of me living in another country seemed unattainable, but here I am.

As a person who has dealt with depression since their late teens, my greatest advice to anyone who may be struggling mentally is KEEP GOING. Of course you should seek professional help, but that also requires you to keep living. Keep breathing. Keep dreaming.

Just so nothing is lost in translation:

Over the past few months I’ve received several DM’s from you lovelies regarding my travels. Recently, I realized that I never formally let y’all know that me, Marcus, and Lafayette decided to start our journey.

In April, we went to Vancouver for a few months. Then, we went back to Tampa for about six weeks, and now we’re in Mexico. There are so many memories from both trips that I still haven’t shared because this weird voice in my head keeps trying make me curate everything.

As I continue to post about our travels, I really want y’all to remember that my goal with this platform is not to flex, but to inspire. We have been through so much to finally be able live our travel dreams, and we’re both eternally grateful that everything we’ve worked for is aligning. Additionally, all of this travel comes with sacrifice.

That being said, I’m excited to share more of myself & our travels with you all! Thank you to everyone for supporting.
