Shame and blame, dry and boring, data and numbers...These are not what inspire health-related behavior changes. Yet so many PSAs keep trying the same approach with not nearly enough effective change on the other side.
Humor, however, has been shown repeatedly to successfully influence positive health-related behavior change. It can increase the impact of persuasive messages, improves motivation to change behavior, and actually helps us to remember the message longer.
Humor can help people feel more included and helps people feel more connected.
That last part can't be overstated, especially with where we find ourselves in human history.
