Episode 2: Psychedelics for Mental Health with Richard Zeifman

On this episode is Richard Zeifman, who is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Ryerson University in Toronto. His research focuses on enhancing mental disorder treatments by integrating evidence-based psychological treatments with pharmacological ones, such as M**A. He recently authored a scientific paper that examined how ayahuasca use influenced suicidal thoughts among people with depression. We discuss how mental disorders could be treated with psychedelic drugs, the barriers to studying and treating individuals using these drugs, and the promise of research in this area. Take a listen!

Welcome!

Stop Psychoanalyzing me is a new podcast in which your friend Bev Katherine interviews experts on the mental disorders that they study. The goal of the interview isn't so much to have an expert discussion of the theory behind these disorders, but rather to discuss mental health in ways that anyone can understand. For example, what is the difference between depression and sadness, or shyness and social anxiety? What does it mean to have OCD? How is bipolar disorder treated?

This podcast is available on all major podcast streaming services. We hope you enjoy!
