```UNILAG VC SACKED BY GOVERNING COUNCIL```

Today, the governing council of the University of Lagos, after a meeting in Abuja, sacked the institution's Vice Chancellor, Professor OLAWATOYIN OGUNDIPE over 'serious acts of wrongdoing' according to the notice.

Professor Ogundipe had few days ago, emphasized in a public interview that tertiary institutions must reopen this year.

Some of his words read
".. Why not, schools will reopen this year, we have been preparing long for it, if it doesn't then we have wasted effort, we have submited our guidelines for resumption, and shortly schools will resume amidst the pandemic, COVID has come, but we have to curtail it.

We can't start over a new semester. We will continue from where we stopped".

We also believe that they are more underlining issues to this case.
