In the 2nd Episode of Season 2, we are diving into the often messy, often ongoing journey of discovering & embracing our unique identities. I'm joined by Shannon Schmidt () to talk about the road to self-discovery. We discuss the beauty and difficulties of navigating the multi-faceted components that make up our identities, and some of the frustrations and roadblocks to embracing who God has made us to be. There may or may not be a few Psych references thrown in as well. (You know that's right.)

Come join us!

Well hello, summer break! Now seems as good a time as any to say SEASON TWO IS HERE! I mean, it technically launched at the end of May and I completely forgot to announce it because end-of-the-school-year-brain.

BUT. Our very first episode of this season is with Meg Hunter-Kilmer, hobo missionary and storyteller of the Saints! We talk about the messy road to Sainthood, so be sure to give it a listen as you're heading out on your first summer adventures!

I’m getting ready to launch season two...just finishing up editing the first episode! In the meantime, I’ve been playing with the cover art. Which of these is your fave? (One of them has a sneak peek of the first episode, but shhhh!)

Hello, friends! It has been a moment since we have recorded a new episode for the podcast as we took a break in November and through the holiday season. I'm currently working on a lineup for what we are just going to call Season Two!

Who would you like to hear from as we talk about the messy spaces? What topics would you like to see discussed? Inquiring minds (mine) want to know!

Stay tuned as we get this season's topics and guest list confirmed over the next few weeks!

You don’t have to stay in toxic situations because you follow Jesus.

Leaving a relationship of any kind can be painful, but it can also be necessary and good. Let’s be soft places to land when our brothers and sisters find themselves in those difficult spaces.

We are called to restore and pursue right relationship in this life - with God, with one another, and in ourselves. While the breaking of a relationship ought not to be done lightly, there are times when God will anoint that path for our good, because He wills our good and our flourishing.

In the most recent episode of A Place In Between, Patty Breen () and I talk about shame, divorce, annulment, and boundaries in the Christian walk. I’d love for you to listen and join us in these messy conversations! (Link in bio)

The newest episode of A Place in Between is finally up after battling all kinds of computer meltdowns!

In this episode, I am joined by Patty Breen, a pastoral minister, writer, & speaker, to talk about guarding against shame, setting boundaries, and how she found God's voice in the midst of a divorce. We discuss the differences between shame and remorse, the importance of the health of our whole persons, and where we see room for growth in the Church in reaching out to those who have experienced divorce.

Episode three is live! In it, I talk about the importance of cultural competence and cultural relativism as we try to make our way through these places in between. But really, you should tune in to hear my friend, Jennifer Delvaux talk about her experiences in Rwanda 20 years after the genocide. It’s a joy to chat with Jen about culture and storytelling and Scripture and healing power of being heard. I hope you’ll love the stories as much as I did!

The first full episode of A Place In Between launched today. If I’m honest, it launched late Saturday night and then I “unlaunched” it because I got nervous I had rambled too long or shared too much. I was afraid. And then I wasn’t.

Well, I’m still nervous, but God has placed some things on my heart I believe He wants me to share and to do with regard to this podcast. Even if it’s for just one person. Even if it is just for me.

In this first episode, it really is just me talking about words and meanings. I spell out what I mean by the “middle” and “in between,” share some theories based on my education in cognitive development, and finally, ramble on about my story. If you’ve ever wondered how I got to where I am today, take a listen! It’s just the highlights but you get a glimpse at some of the milestone moments.

Truly, I don’t want this podcast to be me rambling on by myself though. I want to talk about the stories of people like you and me who are trying to negotiate hard things. I want us to put human flesh on issues we argue about far too theoretically. So come join me in this Place in Between!
