hold 44th FIDE World Chess Olympiad at Mahabalipuram, Chennai from
28 July to 10th
'August 2022. This Chess Olympiad is the biggest sporting
event in the world after Olympic Games. The Ministry of Youth Affairs,
Government of India and Sports Authority of India are organizing the
Olympiad-Terch Relay which was flagged by Hon'ble Prime Minister
from Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 19th June 2022. The
Torch Relay reached the Srinagar Airport by Air from Leh at 8.00am on 21th
June 2022. The Department of Youth Services & Sports, District
Administration, Srinagar and Chess Association of J&K shall carried
this Torch Relay in Srinagar from Airport to SKICC via Hyderpora Dalgate Nehru Park route.
Keeping in view the importance of this International event
(Chess Olympiad Torch Relay), all the arrangements were made by Youth Services and Sports Department
People especially sports lovers were seen taking selfies with the torch.
Later on the torch reached SKICC were an impressive colour function was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports

The Minister also witnessed under- 19 inter- Zonal district level finals of different sports events at Sports Stadium Budgam, where he also distributed sports kits and trophies among the participants .
After declaring the games open, the Minister called for proper identification of talent of sports loving youth and their proper training for their better performance in the field.
