10-02-24 S3 E30 The Debate between Vice Presidents, JD Vance and Tim Walz

Co-Hosts Ray Hanania joins former Congressman Bill Lipinski on two guys on politics to discuss the debate between Vice Presidents, Ohio US Senator JD Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz that took place on Tuesday night, Oct. 1, 2024.

Podcast co-Hosts Lipinski and Hanania discuss the contrasts between the Vice Presidential candidates and the sharp contrast with the Presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Vance and Walz, for all their difference projected a civility that has been missing in American politics for more than 20 years, and that continues to worsen creating a divide, a polarized nation driven by anger, hate and personal attacks.

Vance and Walz actually discussed the substance of issues and rarely segued into personal attacks which is a refreshing and needed relief. Of course, the news media continued to play their favorites, favoring Walz over Vance and the media continues to be the cancer that is driving the destruction of our political system.

Columnist Ray Hanania joins former Congressman Bill Lipinski to co-host this episode of Two Guys on Politics.

Lipinski served in Congress from 1983 until 2005, was a Chicago Democratic Committeeman and Chicago Alderman representing the 23rd Ward on the Southwest of Chicago, a ward which had one of the highest voter turnouts in the city each election.

Hanania is a columnist and writer for several Chicagoland newspapers and also the leading English Language newspaper in in the Gulf, Arab News. Subscribe to his columns and writings at www.Hanania.com

Hanania and Lipinski discuss the first debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris that took place on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024 and how the debate was more about what the candidates needed than what the public wanted to hear. Harris "won" the debate mainly by achieving her goal to prove to the nation that this unknown commodity can stand on her own and debate Trump. Trump failed to convey his ideas in a clear and coherent manner and too often got sucked into responding to Harris' taunts and accusations.

Neither Trump nor Harris explained in any acceptable manner what they would do to improve the economy, to stop illegal immigration that is undermining this nation, strengthen America militarily to standup to the threats from Russia, Iran, North Korea and the growing axis of evil, or how to help seniors.

Instead, each side threw their favorite topics at the wall, including abortion, January 6, and fracking without going into depth.

This debate was organized by the news media, ABC TV News, and not by the Presidential Commission on Debate and was unfocused.

Prior debates before the "Trump era" focused on issues. During the two wasted hours, Harris and Trump coudl have spent 30 minutes on each of four major topics: Abortion, Immigration, the Economy, and their plans if elected president.

Instead, the public got nothing.

This is a special edition of "Two Guys on Politics" podcast on Youtube broadcast live on WNZK AM 690 Radio in Michigan, Ohio and Canada

Host Ray Hanania is joined by his Two Guys on Politics podcast co-host former Congressman Bill Lipinski who served in Congress from 1983 until 2005. Hanania is a columnist and writer for several Chicagoland newspapers and also the leading English Language newspaper in in the Gulf, Arab News, and you can subscribe to his columns and writings at www.Hanania.com

During today's special podcast and radio show combination August 8, 2024, Lipinski and Hanania talk about the presidential election. Did Kamala Harris make the right choice for VP by choosing Tim Walz the Governor of Minnesota, one of several Swing States that Biden narrowly defeated Trump in during the 2020 election by about 230,000 votes?

Why did Trump chose J.D. Vance the Senator from Ohio, a state that Republicans dominate and that Trump won easily by 500,00 votes ... Ohio used to be the deciding state in the presidential elections. Whomever won Ohio would usually become the president. But that is no longer the case with the focus shifting to Michigan and Pennsylvania, two key swing states.

The AbandonBiden movement of Arabs, Blacks, Muslims and progressive Democrats undermined Biden in all of the swing states Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Georgia, New Jersey and Nevada that without their return would doom Biden's re-election plan.

We talk with listeners also about what they feel are the issues. Is the Middle East their number one priority or is the priority for them domestic policies like illegal aliens and migrants who are taking their jobs and seeing tax money being used to subsidize them while American citizens who are homeless are not getting enough taxpayer support?

Listen to this Special Edition of Two Guys on Politics which presents a Reagan Democrat Perspectives from Chicagoland’s Southwest Side and the Midwest.

03-29-24 S3E9 Joe Lieberman, the neverending elections counts, Kennedy's vice president, and Council Wars II

Two Guys on Politics: Lipinski and Hanania discuss thew passing of Senator Joseph Lieberman; the fact that nearly two weeks since the March 19 Democratic Primary, the critical race for Cook County States Attorney is still undecided; and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announces his VP Choice Nicole Shanahan; and the growing fight in the Chicago City Council.

Senator Joe Lieberman, a former candidate for VP with Al Gore in 2020 passed this week. Lipinski knew Lieberman well and talks about him.

The critical race for Cook County State's Attorney is still up in the air nearly two weeks after the election with no clear decision, partly driven by the expanded voting system that seems uncontrolled and scattered with many ballots depending on the poorly performing U.S. Postal System to deliver them. The leader is retired Appellate Judge Eileen O’Neill Burke has widened her lead over university lecturer and former government official Clayton Harris III. Burke maintains a 1,600 vote lead over Harris and it looks like she will hold out to win as the vote count drags on slowly towards its final end.

Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., surprised everyone when he announced his choice for his vice presidential running mate. RFK had floated the names of wrestler Jesse Ventura and former Greenbay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. As soon as RFK announced them, the biased news media jumped all over both Ventura and Rodgers showcasing controversies. But RFK instead chose Nicole Shanahan, a California attorney and billionaire. She is half Irish and half Chinese. While her wealth will certainly help in the election, will she?

And, Lipinski and Hanania discuss Chicago City Council Wars II: Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez is being attacked because he spoke at a rally where before he spoke an American flag was burned -- something that is protected speech under the U.S. Constitution. Sigcho-Lopez the chair of the Housing Committee and a member of Mayor Brandon Johnson’s leadership team. His colleagues condemning Sigcho-Lopez on Wednesday were Alds. Marty Quinn (13th Ward), Raymond Lopez (15th Ward), Silvana Tabares (23rd Ward), Bill Conway (34th Ward), Gilbert Villegas (36th Ward), Anthony Napolitano (41st Ward), Chris Taliaferro (29th Ward), Felix Cardona (31st Ward) and Nick Sposato (38th Ward). It looks as if the critics are grasping for straws in an attempt to build a voice against Chicago Mayor Johnson's administration, but they lack enough votes to make a difference.

10-05-23 S2E9 US Rep Gaetz and Democrats tear down Congress booting Speaker McCarthy

Former Congressman Bill Lipinski and political columnist Ray Hanania analyze the ousting of US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy by extremist radical Congressman Matt Gaetz.

Although the mainstream news media is focusing on Gaetz's extremist ties to indicted former President Donald Trump the media is ignoring th efact that McCarthy wasn't ousted by Gaetz but by the Democratic Minority party which empowered Gaetz, a Florida Republican who has under investigation by the US House Ethics Committee for sexual misconduct, illicit drug use and campaign finance mismanagement.

Gaetz, a long time McCarthy foe, pushed for McCarthy's removal in part because of the investigations but claimed it was because McCarthy had compromised with Democrats to prevent the shutdown of the U.S. Government. But to oust McCarthy, Gaetz had to compromise with Democrats, making Gaetz the ultimate hypocrite.

Democrats have criticized McCarthy for breaking public promises, but had no problem partnering with Gaetz, a radical.
