“Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.” — George W. Bush

“What separates us from the animals, what separates us from the chaos, is our ability to mourn people we’ve never met.”

Somber Remembrance
That day, our tributes were impromptu signs, flags, flowers and tears. Now, each state has an official 9/11 memorial. Dedicated in 2013, ours was the last one installed. Standing by the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base, it has steel from World Trade Center Tower One, a rock from United Airlines Flight 93 crash site in Pennsylvania and a block from The Pentagon.

The 2024 daughter of Noe’lani and Phoenix. She and mama have stayed on Bayside all summer (as mama is wont to do each summer) And every year I hope she stays so I can watch her babies grow like I watched her her first year of life. Fingers crossed! But OSV (drive on beach) is good, too. Away from people. Either way this little girl has captured my heart.
