Just off the top of my head:

1. Just because someone is portraying an image on social media does not mean that they could not be going through domestic violence or some other traumatic event.
2. There is a huge difference of power dynamic between the two parties. One is rich and has a huge following. The other does not.
3. The bruises people are trying "analyse" on social media and calling fake are not just photos but medical reports and proof of abuse ACCEPTED in court.
4. A person being good to his colleagues or people he meets outside the house is not proof of him being exemplary in character. Alot of abusers are excellent with acquaintances and horrible for people living inside the house.
5. Your personal liking for a star does not mean they are Angels sent to Earth. You need to look at things as they are and STOP blindly defending and following people.
6. Just because you like the toxic characters Feroze Khan plays doesn't mean you would want someone like that in your life. If you do.. I hope you get them. And if you don't.. then stop supporting an abuser.

Thank you.

Another justicefor hashtag to add to the ever growing list, as those in power do nothing to stop the merciless murders of women at the hands of powerful men, often their husbands.

Another day, of understanding why a woman's complain of abuse needs to be taken seriously, BEFORE she ends up dead.

An interview of the man who made us who we are and who was a mentor to us as we started planning to start crux. A man because of whom our time at CEJ-IBA was more enlightening and fulfilling than we could've imagined.

Sir Kamal is somebody who you want to listen to; who shares the most vital of information shrouded in anecdotes and jokes, who surprises you with his knowledge but with such humility that you don't even realize what a great man you're speaking to. It has been a privilege to know him and to learn from him.

We're waiting on that book Sir Kamal! We would love to read it someday.

"Men have no control over themselves" "Men are not robots" These statements do not empower men. This is an insult to the whole gender. Why? Because it shows that they are creatures of impulse rather than thought and wisdom. And aren't humans, "Ashraf-ul-Makhlooqaat" according to Islam? Those who don't act on impulse but rather have self-control? Men are okay with being considered animals in the sense of lacking self control? And speaking of self-control, isn't the most best kind of jihad, jihad-bin-nafs (Jihad of the self)? Does that not make our society today un-Islamic to say the least?

And what does this tell the world? That Pakistani men are sex-depraved animals, who lack any kind of self control and hence should not be allowed to become part of societies where women enjoy the freedom to wear what they please and live as they want?

And what does this tell boys and men? That they are free to do as they please, to whoever they want to do it? As they are not robots? What does this tell so many of the minors r***d by family members, neighbours, teachers or strangers? What does this tell the newly wed bride gang-r***d on her wedding night by robbers? What of the boys molested by religious teachers in boys no less?

If these are the excuses we are making, we must come up with an answer for judgement day; when all the innocents who have lost their lives and those who have gone through this trauma ask us whether it was truly their fault.

So no, this statement which people are defending with their heart and soul is not giving men any kind of power. It is picking them up from the pedestal they live on calling themselves "the more intelligent gender" but actually throwing themselves down with animals or perhaps even worse than animals because at least babies of animals stay safe but we can't say the same for humans.

While working on my documentary, which focuses on Pakistan's obsession with white skin, I wondered what benefit does light skin have to a mother looking for a rishta for her son? Surely, that is an exaggerated caricature of our society, to make jokes about and make light of?
As it turns out, the situation is way worse than we think and the demand for lighter skin way, way high.

Who remembers this heart touching song by Uzair Jaswal? It came out in 2014, when we headed to university and made us want to smile and cry at the same time. Perhaps the funniest part being that it made so many people miss their non existent romantic partners; the melancholy of his voice and the lyrics setting a mood which was difficult to get out of.

But eventually we had the process down to a T; start from Tere Bin and end with a dose of "BOLAY", that mood changer of a song with the most hilarious music video which introduced so many of us to

It’s amazing how a song can bring back so many memories and have some kinda emotional value attached to it. Such a song stays with you, forever. This one in particular brings back such fond memories; my teenage years, falling in love, being excited about every little thing, my school, the amazing friends I made, the month November, our trips to murree, sitting with my friends at the cafeteria for hours, cruising for hours and then ending up at hotspot, singing at every open mic night, singing for my teachers, borrowing my moms old radio to listen to my own songs on the radio, jumping on the bed when it played for the first time on tv, my beautiful Islamabad, it’s winters and how I fell in love with it everyday, growing up. I can go on for hours, but where were you when you first heard this song? Do you have any memories attached to it?

What an adorable family portrait of Fawad Khan and his family! 💖

of Mr & Mrs. Fawad A. Khan with Family
Finally I am posting these photographs taken on 14 June 2020 (During Lockdown)
Next month, its going to be a year to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic - a crisis that engulfed the world completely as it went into a state of lockdown - including Pakistan. However, it was indeed a blend of danger that brought with it loads of opportunity, as every crisis.
Making full use of this time of lockdown, I began to innovate with documenting the pandemic and came up with the Series, where I visited homes, asked people to pose on their balconies and took their portraits whilst maintaining a lot of safe, distance - which was one of the key precautions for this virus.

However, as miraculously as it was, the lockdown was lifted in the country, after which I had to pause this series as life went back to normal. With the virus entering its second phase now, almost a year later, I really don’t know if I’ll be able to restart the series or not.

One thing is for sure, though - with this very special picture take of the Fawad A. Khan clan, I officially announce the end of Season 1 - yes, it’s ending for now!

I pray for the smiles on each of our faces and the hope in our hearts to persist through the toughest times we have seen. May Allah create ease for all of us! Ameen.

Perhaps it's the smallest acts of kindness towards you; happening when you least expect them that somehow make you hopeful about humanity.

We stood waiting and looking around for an empty table in the pretty full food court of Dolmen Mall Tariq Road, when we saw a table empty. We had been standing for a while and as we walked towards it another family who had just entered the food court approached it. We were almost there but we saw them approaching and turned away but this family had also seen that we were planning to sit there and they decided to sit at another table.

As we turned and our tray touched the table, a girl in a blue and white shirt comes running and puts her bags on the chair next to the table completely ignoring us who were just about to sit down. And turns to call her mother who then comes and sits down.

The lack of etiquette shocked us to the point where we turned and were just like WOW. What just happened. Unbeknownst to us, an aunty sitting on the table next to the one we had almost sat on had been watching this whole scenario. As she sat eating icecream with her daughter, she called us over and told us to sit on their table, as she got up. We asked her to continue sitting and take her time with her icecream, we can wait. But she made us sit on the table, saying "Sit down. And don't give this table to anyone else" Shooing away another family which was making a beeline to the table she was vacating. We sat down and she and her daughter walked around as they finished their icecream.

It hit me hard, this little incident. Where on one side we had been shaking our heads at the lack of basic manners and etiquettes in a market by supposedly educated people, so quickly the world showed us that there's so much good to believe in too.

The aunty probably doesn't even know how within seconds, through her smile and this little gesture, she made us realize that kindness no matter how small leaves an impact that lasts.

A statue of a woman by Lebanese artist Hayat Nazer — made out of broken glass, rubble and a damaged clock marking the time (6.08pm) of the mega explosion at the port of Beirut — is placed opposite the blast site in the Lebanese capital. On August 4, a massive stockpile of ammonium nitrite exploded at the Beirut port, killing 190 people, injuring over 6,000 and leaving more than 300,000 displaced from their homes.

Had the opportunity to visit and ohmygod! What a wonderful decision it was. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered and what we thought of it:

1. Zeytin Mix Pide - A Turkish style pizza; this was a three flavors in one, namely pepperoni, plain cheese and fajita and oof! The flavor took me back to my childhood in Saudi Arabia and their brick-oven baked pizza. One of my favourites.

2. Spicy Chicken Kabsa - Personally I am not fond of rice, but the chicken which came with it was tender and just the right amount of spicy.

3. Sizzling Kabab (Chicken) - Served on a bed of capsicum, onions and tomatoes, this is similar to a dish my mom makes. (yep. I'm that person) Loved the flavor and the Turkish bread it came with.

4. Lemon Mint Mojito - I am not a fan of extremely chilled drinks and this was not extremely chilled. Yayyy! Instead of just being icy ( like most places have) it actually had a taste and didn't cause an intense brain-freeze with the first sip.

Ambience: 9/10
Service: 10/10
Food: 9/10

The bill came out at 3808 Rs. which we thought was good value for money, especially since the four of us were completely full by the end of the meal.
