Super thrilled to have had the opportunity to discuss Hong Kong’s vibrant halal food scene on ❤️! It’s truly remarkable to witness the growing traction of halal consumerism in the city and the increasing acceptance of inclusivity.

Despite the commendable progress made in offering halal options, Hong Kong still holds untapped potential, especially when it comes to providing halal local food choices. The introduction of such options would undoubtedly be a game-changer for the city. Fortunately, good news for us is that the Hong Kong Tourism Board are now introducing new initiatives that aim to tackle the challenge head-on, including:

📌Providing more halal-friendly restaurants, as currently only 0.8% of licensed food premises in Hong Kong are halal-certified.

📌 launching a campaign to encourage businesses to obtain halal certification, ranging from:

- Fully halal restaurants, with halal-certification
- Establishments with separate halal kitchens that also serve non-halal meat and alcohol
- Halal-friendly eateries with strict contamination prevention measures.

(My suggestion: Just follow - they have all that covered 😏)

Also, I want to thank you all soo much all for your tremendous support. Your messages have been incredibly encouraging, motivating me to keep creating content for each and every one of you. It brings me immense joy to witness how much this page has positively impacted and aided you in finding suitable restaurants to dine at.

Insha Allah, hope to deliver even more valuable content in the future, not only catering to the Muslim community in Hong Kong but also extending to vegetarians and vegans (don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about you! 😉).

📍Oolaa, Central

Oolaa is a unique all-day dining and drinks destination located in the heart of Central, but they also have branches in Tung Chung and TKO.

I tried their Wild Mushroom Risotto for HKD$145. I did think it was more on the expensive side and felt the risotto tasted pretty average. I wouldn't mind going there again but probably for snacks and a drink rather than lunch.

📍Shangri-La, TST

Last but not least, I'm ending my birthday cake series with the Fou Fou cake from .

1.Frou Frou Cake 🎂 (HKD$300+)
- It has a layer of crunchy praline, giving the cake a good crunch.
- It also has some jam-like ingredients (similar to black forest)
- The outer layer is chocolate mousse; thus, it's very chocolatey.
- The original cake includes gelatin, but you can ask them to remove it (you need to tell them at least two days in advance)

9/10 (Perfect for chocolate lovers :D)

📍Marks N Spencer, Central

This week I had my birthday dinner but forgot to get a cake. Luckily I remembered have a few varieties, so I went ahead to buy one from there. Luckily I came across this beauty.

🎂 Rainbow Layered cake (~HKD$200)

- Loved the look of the cake. Super bright and colourful 😍

- it was a sponge cake filled with a lot of frosting, which was very sweet.
- However, for a boxed cake, it was pretty good

📍Chickpea, Central

I'm back with another mini-review for .hk . Whenever I'd visit chickpea, I would get their hummus bowl which I love. However, I wanted to try something new this time, so I bought their signature pockets.

1. Old Faithful, Chicken Shawarma (HKD$88)
Very similar flavours to the hummus bowl, and I loved it!
It was a bit messy to eat, so I would recommend getting a bowl/plate/napkin
It tasted like a somewhat healthier version of a chicken shawarma

It was an honour to speak with about the situation of Halal food in Hong Kong and the challenges faced by the Muslim community.

Growing up, I’d always tell people I was a vegetarian just because it was easier than explaining what halal food was. I’m very grateful that Hong Kong is slowly recognising people’s different dietary requirements and catering to this niche.

When I started my food blog, I realised how my content was very different from other blogs due to my dietary requirements. Initially, I thought this was a limitation but saw how many of you faced similar challenges and instead used this page to help you all :)

I hope Hong Kong can begin catering to these smaller niches, including Vegetarian, Vegan and Jain food, and live up to the title of being an international city (Inshallah).

✈️📍Lebua Hotel (Lucknow)🇮🇳

We decided to explore another city in india, and stayed at a beautiful heritage hotel, .

Le Bua is located in central Lucknow along with other cities across India. It’s conceptualized as a sprawling traditional bungalow with a lush green lawn and offers a blend of modern hospitality and a traditional ethos.

For breakfast we had their cappchino which was made with grounded beans from the Himalayas. Definitely woke us up and it was delicious. 😬 [9/10]

✈️📍Somewhere on the streets of Banaras (Varanasi)🇮🇳

Back to some more street food! A while back we had visited the famous Kashi Vishnat Temple in Varanasi. Besides it’s ancient history, the location of the temple is well-known for its cold coffee!

The cold coffee there is probably the best we’ve had. It had a similar taste to a milshake but the taste of coffee was stronger. The vanilla icecream on top gave the whole drink a bitter sweet taste!

✈️📍Somewhere on the streets of Banaras (Varanasi)🇮🇳

Banaras has quite a few popular snacks including tamatar chaat (tomato chaat) ,

The tamatar chaat is served in a clay pot and is filled with chickpeas and paneer in tomato gravy. It is then topped off with a generous portion of cracker like fried snacks.

It tasted great but was super spicy, however that didn’t stop us from finishing it. I guess that’s just how street food works 🤷🏻‍♀️

📍Wooloomooloo prime, TST east

Back with some more restaurants in Home Kong! Quite a while back we went to for special occasion and loved the overall ambience of the restaurant. We got a seat outside with a relaxing view of the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade.

Bread Pudding [HKD$98]
- This pudding was unexpectedly really good
- The vanilla bread pudding was served with rich pastry cream, crispy praline and vanilla gelato.
- Bread pudding was super soft
- The sweet pastry cream balanced out well with the vanilla gelato
- Portion size suitable for 1-2 people
- One of the best bread puddings we’ve had.

Just a word of advice, make sure to make reservations beforehand as it’s can be really crowded and hard to get a seat.

✈️📍Somewhere on the streets of Banaras (Varanasi)🇮🇳

We’re a huge fan of chai which I’m sure you guys already know, especially when it comes to ‘Kulhad chai’ (chai made and served in clay pots.)

However, recently we came across a little shop which was serving ‘kulhad coffee’ and we knew we had to try it!

The coffee poured in the clay pot gets absorbed by the cup which then infuses with the coffee giving it a more earthy kind of flavour along wit enhancing the taste.

✈️📍Lavang Lata, Varanasi 🇮🇳

Time for some more street food! Next on our list we have a very popular dessert called ‘Laung latta’ or ‘Lavang latta’. Originally from Bengal & Bihar but very popular in Banaras (Varanasi) too!

Laung Latta is puff pastry like sweet dipped in syrup. The filling includes nuts, raisin, coconut, cloves, cardamom and other spices.

Overall a great and unique dessert to have but it may be too sweet for some people 😅

Trip to india 🇮🇳 isn’t complete without some authentic Kulhar chai.

Kulhar chai is considered one of the most popular loved beverages in India. You can find this in any corner of the street, day and night.

The chai is prepared in a clay pot which gives it a more rustic and unique flavour! (not something you’d find in any cafe)
