Welcome back to another season of SequelMen: The Podcast! Season 4 opens in a big way with the reintroduction of the Pixar Pack series - something we really enjoyed doing way back in January of 2020. This week, we step into our closet doors and enter the world of monsters in Disney-Pixar's Monsters Inc!

From admiring the sheer creativity of the concept of Monsters living in a world not unlike our own, to reminiscing on how this film impacted our childhoods (with a little irreverence to boot), we had fun getting back into the swing of things with this season premiere. You're probably asking yourselves... Kristian! Spencer! Joel! Where is the newest episode of SequelMen: The Podcast. This is probably the face you're making as these thoughts cross through your mind.

Fear not, for the next episode of SequelMen is well on the way toward release! As myself and Joel spent the past couple of weeks in Florida and post travel R&R (or in Joel's case, new housewarming and recording booth prep), the release schedule has been delayed a bit but you expect the Monsters Inc. episode out within the next few days!

Keep your eye open for this one! 😉

Hello? Is this thing on? *tap tap*

We've been radio silent for the past few weeks and we've gotten a few questions regarding our absence so we wanted to bring you up to speed on the status of the show moving forward.

First of all. the show is still in production - we've just finished recording two new episodes to be released within the next few days/weeks! We had planned on doing Christmas Vacation as a one-off holiday special, but the new year had come and we weren't able to coordinate our schedules to allow for recording. It just wouldn't have made much sense covering it after the holidays - I guess we have something to look forward to this December!

Next, Joel will no longer be a permanent co-host but rather a guest host on a case-by-case basis. He's got a lot of moving parts going on right now which restricts his participation in the show and we respect his wishes to step back a bit and not be so heavily involved moving forward. Intros and Joel Jabs are still very much intact.😅

As for the long wait, the simple fact is that we all needed a break from producing the show to reset, recharge, refocus, and reevaluate how we want our show to be. This means potentially reformatting the show, reintroducing old dynamics, and bringing back some old segments like the "Character Spotlight", among others...

We're excited for the show moving forward into Season 4! Our first new episode will launch in a few days, which will serve as a sort of "story so far" episode, recapping S3, some fun random banter, and discussing aspects of what we explained here. S4 proper will launch with our subsequent episode focusing on a new franchise from a company we haven't covered since S1... tune in to find out!

We're sorry for the long wait between episodes and for our silence on the page. We're back, recharged, and ready to go! Thank you all for your patience and continued listenership - you're awesome!

Yeah, we're all pretty darn special down here at SequelMen: The Podcast! We hope all of you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and happy holidays with friends and family. ❄️ 🎄 🎁

In our latest episode and last one of the year (it is New Years Eve after all), we discuss a film that spent THREE decades in development hell before being revived by a new generation and giving us one of the greatest legacy sequels ever made. Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman and an accomplished director himself, takes over the busting reigns from his father to tell a story filled with heart, humor, and plenty of callbacks to the original 80's films. Together, we discuss how the film represents a generational shift for the franchise - with a FIN Score, Recap rap, and franchise reveal thrown in for good measure!

Revealed in 2019 and heralding a return to the canon of the original two films, this has got to be one of the best teaser trailers out there - right up with the teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"Okay, I don't know if it was a race thing or a lady thing, but I'm mad as hell."

This single line is an almost perfect encapsulation of the anger and vitriol that surrounds this week's film and topic of discussion here on SequelMen: The Podcast - The women-led Ghostbusters 2016 (later rebranded as Answer The Call). Fortunately, we have a (mostly) nuanced and considerate conversation about the film - its faults AND it's triumphs - while sharing some laughs and terrible impersonations along the way.
