Seven arrested in connection with r**e and murder of two minor girls in Assam
Kokrajhar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Thube Prateek Kumar told India Today TV that the seven people have confessed to ra**ng and killing the two tribal girls.
Police arrested seven people for their involvement in the r**e and murder of two teenage tribal girls in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
The accused, aged between 19 to 27, were identified as Muzammil Sheikh, Nazibul Sheikh, Farouk Rahman, Hanif Sheikh, Jahanur Islam, Md. Atab Ali and Sankarde Barman.
Kokrajhar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Thube Prateek Kumar told India Today TV that the three prime accused among the seven arrested have confessed to ra**ng and killing the two tribal girls.
The two minor girls, aged 14 and 16, were found hanging from a tree in a village under the Kokrajhar police station on June 11. Police had confirmed that they were r**ed and killed.
“Muzammil Sheikh, Nazibul Sheikh and Farouk Rahman are the main accused and they have confessed to the crime. Four other persons were also involved in the incident,” Thube Prateek Kumar said.
