Confieso que no soy muy amante de la música moderna, excepto los trabajos de las leyendas vivas del WestCoast que me siguen sugiriendo. Christian Gratz es la gran excepción, su música suena a la que sonaba en la época dorada del género pero, con un toque fresco y original. Descubrí su música el año pasado y desde entonces soy un fan incondicional. “1981” es uno de los grandes candidatos a álbum del año, por lo que recomiendo encarecidamente su compra junto a su álbum del año pasado “1979”.

Born and raised in Olyphant Pennsylvania, Christian Gratz was destined to be a great musician before even picking up an instrument. Christian Gratz has Synesthesia (Chromastesia). Which causes him to see colors and certain shapes with different instruments. At a young age he began to study the guitar, and eventually went onto Marywood University where he earned a degree in jazz guitar. Professors, so impressed with his natural skill offered him piano lessons in his free time. Christian’s musicianship speaks for itself as he is skilled in guitar, piano and bass. He has graced the stage three times with THREE DOG NIGHT, and has also performed with many other national acts such as S.King, THE GRASS ROOTS, THE PLATTERS, THE SYLISTICS, THE DRIFTERS etc. Today, Christian writes and produces his own music and also he has his jazz group THE FROST DUO. "1981" Is a continuation of the production and style of that era! Pop Top 40 charts was the inspiration by names like AIR SUPPLY, L.Sayer, B.Manilow, THE DOOBIE BROTHERS, BOZ SCAGGS, D.Hall and J.Oates, EAGLES, C.Cross, STEELY DAN and also E.John, M.Balin, G.Rafferty among others. Christian tried to nail the production of the era with glossy electric pianos, thick analog synths, chorused sparkling guitars, backbeat drums, smooth harmonies, succinct solos, ADT vocals, brooding lyrics.... all hallmarks of late-70s early 80s pop. I like saxophone use on some tracks. Great voice… smooth production… 80’s summer breeze feeling… with a heart's touch. No suggested track because I like the whole album. Lovers, dreamers, nostalgic of the 80's and yacht/westcoast rockers… GRAB IT NOW! A MUST HAVE!!!
