My fun gratitude challenge quickly turned into concerns over metrics and engagement so I just decided to keep it to myself. One of my resolutions for the next year is to embrace creativity and to stop creating things for Instagram. This year brought a lot of growth for me and I’m grateful for that. Of course, I am not sure what’s in store for 2024 but I’m going to sink my roots deep into health, compassion, and community.
Endurance training has rejuvenated my love for exercise and whole food plant-based meals. Health and well-being are top priority again.
The last few years have shined light on so much suffering. I can’t solve it, but I’m committed to trying not to contribute to more suffering, and helping in the small ways that I can.
Having a small community of loving and supportive people around makes life special. It’s uplifting and I want to invest more time and energy into building and cultivating community.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Gratitude Day 18: My mornings start off slow and I can ease into most days, enjoying my coffee while the sun comes up. This routine probably won’t last forever so I’ll cherish it for now ❤️

Gratitude Day 18. I’m grateful for the times I’ve gone out of my comfort zone. It’s hard to do but we rarely regret it.

Gratitude Day 11: It’s tempting to look at the world in black and white. The gray areas can make things confusing and uncomfortable. For a long time I just wanted to have everything sorted and put things in their black or white compartments. Allowing things to be this AND that, instead of this OR that adds layers of depth and color to a gray world. Learning to see the world in color makes for a vibrant life and I’m grateful I’ve opened my mind up to that.

Gratitude Day 9: I’m grateful for the people who make a positive impact. The world can seem so messy, and self-absorbed, and cruel. But there are people who dedicate their lives towards helping the people, animals, and the environments that need it. Life would be hopeless without them.

Gratitude Day 8: I’m grateful for my education and the skills that I’ve learned. It’s another thing we tend to take for granted. Basic skills like reading, writing, music, art— skills many people don’t have the privilege or opportunity to learn as kids.
At first I was like. Eh education doesn’t match the flamingos and then I was like, why does it have to match? Who cares? I’ll do my best to match the photos to my gratitude but there are just some things I don’t have pictures of 🤷

Gratitude Day 7. I live like a king. Our home is cozy and quiet. It has heat and air conditioning, clean water, hot water, a fireplace and reliable appliances. There’s lots of light for our plants and animals and I get to spend my days with my creatures and our creature comforts. It’s easy to take it for granted but it’s all luxury and I’m grateful for it all.

Gratitude Day 6. When I think back to being a kid, most memories are of the time that I spent outside— exploring the woods, skating, biking, building ramps, and going out on the boat. I’m grateful for my childhood: the home I grew up in, the people I grew up with, and I’m grateful that I got to experience life before the internet.

Gratitude Day 4. My health. My body has never let me down. A life of many dives, climbs, flips, falls, and tumbles. There has been so much demand and it’s pretty amazing what it can do. I know it’s easy to take for granted. Aside from the physical demand, I’m grateful my health has been optimal from the start. With little aches and pains 33 years in, everything continues to function properly and for that I’m truly grateful!

Gratitude Day 2: My wife, Savannah continues to give me so much to be grateful for. I learn and grow every day because of her! She is always encouraging me and challenging me, oh my does she challenge me 😏. She keeps everything in our life on track and the best part about her is that she makes things happen, and she will move mountains to do so.

It has been an awfully heavy year for Savannah, but she continues to push on and do everything she can for me and the people she loves. I’m thankful to have her in my life every single day!

In the spirit of giving thanks, I’ve decided to share some photos that I love paired with something that I’m grateful for, every day for the rest of this year. So here’s to finishing the year with a heart full of gratitude ♥️

1. Today I am grateful for the interconnectedness that has brought my life together. The people, the experiences, the privileges, the lessons, and the opportunities, all mixed into the elixir that is me!
