In early 2021 I applied for a remote graphic design job that payed ✨$15✨/hour. I received and interview, but ended up not getting the job. I was crushed, disappointed and overall felt I just wasn’t ever going to make it in online work, much less marketing and design.

While 2023 wasn’t all flowers and puppies, if 2021 me saw this post she’d be floored. I’m so incredibly grateful for the work God has done to bring me here, and thankful to each of the incredible people I’ve gotten to work with this year. Thank you for putting your trust in me, supporting me and being a friend even if we love 1,000s of miles and several continents away.

Confession: I don't like running, and I REALLY don't like running on a treadmill. The idea of running and getting nowhere just makes me kind of angry on the inside 😅

And I kind of get the same feeling when I put tons of work into one social media post that is never seen again after 72 hours. So. frustrating.

One my passions for my own business and those I serve is to build a sustainable marketing plan so you aren't relying on creating oodles of short form content that eats up all your creativity, leaving you dry and unable to show up for your clients or in your creative business.

It's probably just me, but I roll my eyes a little when I hear other service providers use the word "strategy".

Here's the thing: strategy is super important. If you're doing anything without strategy, you might as well just play the lottery to become rich or start throwing basketballs at a hoop with your eyes closed while hoping to be picked up by the NBA. It's just not gonna work.

What I don't like, is when people try to make strategy way more complicated than it has to be, or like a top secret formula you need to pay $997 to find out. Instead let's swipe to break down what a Pinterest strategy really is, without the fluff.

BREAKING NEWS. Pinterest has announced that Idea Pins as we know them will officially go away forever on June 20th.

This is shocking to some, but a lot of us have been noticing our idea pins slowly tank, especially with the addition of links. What was once an exciting new feature that some of us loved (and some loved to hate) has ended somewhat abruptly without much notice or explanation from Pinterest.

That being said, I’ve compiled what I know about the history and possible future of short form video on Pinterest. Here’s the scoop on idea pins, where they’ve been, and what you need to know!

If your pins aren’t converting, it might be because your website sucks. 🙊

If you’re out there advertising something awesome, and someone clicks on you pin only to land on a page that’s poorly optimized or has broken links, they’re likely to go back to the platform and try something else!

One of my core values as a Pinterest marketer is honestly. I don’t want people to start investing in the platform if there are key areas that are going to hold them back from true success.

If you’re like me, you love a good checklist… but how about a game with points?!

So I may have made up the point values here, but you’ll want to save this baby for later, as each of the levels in this “game” will help your pin reach the right audience on Pinterest.

These are all the steps I ensure are completed when batching pins for clients, and all I can say is….✨they work like magic ✨

You're missing out on 3/4 of your audience if you're only marketing on Instagram or TikTok.

Here's the deal. Social media is the perfect place to start out as a business owner. You'll start building a community, are able to connect and nurture leads, and get some visibility. Great!

Buuuuuuuutttttttt, if you're looking to reach a larger audience that may actually be more warm to your services, you're going to want to invest in the long game. i.e. A solid SEO optimized website, SEO optimized blogs, and a Pinterest marketing strategy.

Each of these is going to be some work up front, but once the work is put in, the return is manifold. The best part is, these are easily outsourced, and don't require you to show up on camera doing "day in the life"s and start dancing in front of a screen.

So, if you're still just plating the Instagram or TikTok game, I'd encourage you to take a leap and start investing into strategies that reach a different audience and are more sustainable. DM if you're curious what this looks like for you biz!

*If you're seeing this...the IG algorithm must not be all bad 😉*

Listen, I know IG can be fantastic, but what if you didn't have to rely on it exclusively, or even primarily for your business? Pinterest has a wicked smart algorithm (we're talking Google smart here....mic drop 🎤 ) So if you're just starting out, it's important to be aware of what Pinterest considers spam before starting to pin your content. Getting your account flagged is a headache you don't want to deal with!

Seeing a sudden drop in impressions? You could have been punished by the Pinterest spam filters and the algorithm is no longer pushing out your content. The scary thing is you might not have been notified. So check those analytics for a sudden drop and contact Pinterest right away if you think your account has been flagged.

Can I be really real for a second? Trying to market your business on EVERY platform is keeping you stuck.

You see, I know you want to get your business to the right audience, and as many of them as possible. And I promise you that you can achieve that, you just need to go about things a different way.

And here’s how.
If you want to reach your ideal client, I find the best way to get in front of them is to find out where they are, and FOCUS there.

It’s how my clients have gone from scattering a bunch of repurposed general content everywhere without results, to spending less time and money while actually reaching MORE people on the platform that's right for them. For most of my creative, faith-based clients, they focus on one or both of these platforms: Pinterest(for getting discovered), and Instagram (for relationship building and nurturing your audience).

Happy Sunday friends! The sun has finally decided to shine here in rainy Oregon, and I’m here for it ☀️ I’ve been going through Colossians with a dear friend, and I’ve been trying to think about what the main message of the book was. Simply put, It is Christ. Christ above all, Christ before all, and, maybe most astounding Christ in…us. Our identity in Christ is something they just shakes me to the core when I think about it. Out if darkness, into the light. Out of sin, into righteousness. Out of enmity, into peace. Out of slavery, into freedom. Out of striving, into rest.

Are you making these mistakes on your website? Think about your front page as your elevator pitch. Your first impression. It's what will stick with people. It's easy to get caught up in the design of your website (who doesn't love a beautiful, clean and modern website?), but lose the message you want to convey. If people go away thinking "wow, they were professional looking", but had no idea what you do, they're not likely to reach out to your for services.

The name "Vineyard Creative" came both from my last name, which is Vines, and John 15: 5 " I am the vine, you are the branches. Apart from me you can do nothing." This serves as a reminder to me that I can do nothing apart from
Christ. All I have, both spiritually and physically, comes from the strength and grace He provides.

The analogy of a vineyard as a group of branches bearing fruit, all connected to one vine, reminded me of how we as believers are connected through Jesus, the vine. He is the author of everything we have, including our "creative juices"!

When we practice our creativity to bring order and beauty to the world, we are displaying God's handiwork in us, as he is the ultimate creator! I truly believe God gave us all gifts to be able to serve others in the vineyard. And when we're connected to him, we can be fruitful and minister to one another with the life-giving fruit that only He can give.
