Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has teamed up with TUI Musement to help guests explore ashore independently.

Global tours and activities business TUI Musement encourages independent exploration so guests can discover ports of call at their own pace.

Guests can purchase tickets for thousands of attractions such as the Chocolate Museum in Cologne or a pass for the seven most famous archaeological sites in Athens, as well as book activities including hiring a bike in Amsterdam, hop-on, hop-off buses in various cities and learning how to make tiramisu in Italy.

Stephanie Farrow, Itinerary Product and Destination Experience Manager at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

“We are really excited to be working with TUI Musement to help promote independent exploration in our ports of call.

“While many of our guests love going on our organised shore tours, there are several who prefer the opportunity to head ashore and explore independently.

“At the same time, these guests may like to experience some of the attractions or museums available in various destinations.

“TUI Musement can help our guests not wanting to take part in an organised excursion, make the most of their time in port.

“This collaboration is just another example of how we continue to put our guests at the heart of everything we do to deliver unforgettable experiences.”

Between September and December 2024, Fred. Olsen’s fleet of smaller ships Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral will visit a variety of destinations including the lesser-known islands of the Azores, the stunning Norwegian Fjords, volcanic Iceland and the beautiful Adriatic coast, each offering plenty of opportunities to explore.

Nishank Gopalkrishnan, Chief Commercial Officer at TUI Musement, the tours and activities division of TUI Group, said:

“Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is pioneering in the cruise industry, and we are delighted to partner with them in offering more top-quality options for guests to explore and experience a destination.

“This is a very innovative collaboration that will positively disrupt the cruise industry, and further reinforces TUI Musement’s position as the tours and activities partner of choice for the world’s leading travel businesses.”

TUI Musement is providing a platform integrated with the existing Fred. Olsen digital touchpoints and infrastructure, enabling a seamless experience for customers. The platform is populated with thousands of excursions, activities and attraction tickets that can be instantly booked online and cover all of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ ports of call.

Galapagos Shark Diving Expands Conservation Efforts with New Partnership
Galapagos Shark Diving is excited to announce its new partnership with the Galaxy Diver II, the newest luxury dive liveaboard vessel in the Galapagos fleet, marking a major step forward in its mission to combine world-class diving with hands-on marine conservation. This collaboration offers divers the unique opportunity to join Shark Conservation Expeditions led by shark researchers aboard the Galaxy Diver II, offering greater comfort and luxury while continuing the vital work of protecting the fragile ecosystems of the Galapagos Islands.

Beginning in August 2025, divers will be able to take part in Citizen Science Expeditions aboard the Galaxy Diver II, engaging directly in conservation efforts by gathering valuable data on species like whale sharks and hammerheads. These expeditions offer a rare chance to actively assist researchers in real-time shark conservation, one of the few opportunities of its kind in the world. Led by scientists from the Galapagos Whale Shark Project and other shark experts, these expeditions not only provide an unparalleled diving experience but also contribute directly to ongoing research and preservation efforts. All profits from the expeditions go toward supporting this essential work.

“This partnership allows us to offer a more luxurious, comfortable experience while staying true to our core mission of shark conservation and marine research,” said Jenny Waack, founder of Galapagos Shark Diving. “With Galaxy Diver II, we can reach more divers who want to contribute to conservation while enjoying the comfort of a state-of-the-art vessel.”

The Galaxy Diver II, launched this year, is the most advanced liveaboard in the fleet, combining luxury and adventure. With spacious cabins, gourmet dining, a sun deck featuring a whirlpool bath, and a dedicated crew providing personalized service, the vessel offers divers a relaxing and enjoyable experience while participating in conservation. This new option complements the other vessels used by Galapagos Shark Diving, giving guests the flexibility to choose a more adventurous or comfortable approach to their conservation work.

Unique Diving Experience

These expeditions offer an extraordinary opportunity to dive alongside shark researchers in some of the most shark-rich waters on the planet. Few divers will ever have the chance to contribute directly to live research in such an environment. Guests actively engage in ongoing shark conservation efforts while exploring iconic dive sites such as Darwin and Wolf Islands, known for their unparalleled marine life. Working closely with scientists studying whale sharks, hammerheads, and other species, participants gather valuable data during their dives. Every dive is not only an exploration of the rich marine environments of the Galapagos but also a direct contribution to critical research efforts.

The Galapagos Islands have long been recognized as a breeding and birthing ground for many shark species. Recent efforts led by the Galapagos Whale Shark Project have prompted the extension of the Galapagos Marine Reserve, but there is more work to be done. One of the key focuses of the research team is determining whether the whale sharks sighted in these waters are pregnant and may use the Galapagos as a birthing ground. By participating in these expeditions, divers are directly supporting research that could provide the scientific backing needed to further expand marine protection areas.

“We lose millions of sharks every year to human activity,” said Jenny Waack. “The time to act is now. The Galapagos is one of the last safe havens for sharks, but more protection is needed. By supporting research now, we can accelerate efforts to safeguard these waters and extend marine protection for future generations.”

Why Now?

The Galapagos Marine Reserve is one of the last places on Earth where shark populations still thrive, but they remain under constant threat. With millions of sharks killed each year due to human activity, the time to act is now. These expeditions are critical to helping researchers collect data on shark behavior, migration, and breeding patterns. By supporting this research, divers help accelerate efforts to safeguard these waters and extend marine protection for future generations. Every dive supports conservation efforts in one of the most biologically significant marine ecosystems in the world.

Post-Expedition Impact

Beyond the life-changing experience of diving in the Galapagos, participants will continue to have a meaningful impact after the trip. Galapagos Shark Diving ensures that all divers are kept informed about the research they supported. Through exclusive updates, virtual webinars, and follow-up opportunities to engage with the Galapagos Whale Shark Project, divers will stay connected to the cause long after they return home.

“This isn’t just a diving trip; it’s the start of a long-term commitment to ocean conservation,” Jenny noted. “Our divers are given the tools to continue supporting research and marine protection from wherever they are in the world.”

About the Galaxy Diver II

The Galaxy Diver II is the newest and most luxurious liveaboard vessel in the Galapagos. Featuring spacious, elegantly designed cabins, gourmet meals, and a whirlpool bath on the sun deck, it offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. With the latest diving and safety equipment, this vessel ensures that divers have a safe, enjoyable, and comfortable journey while participating in cutting-edge marine conservation work.

Available Dates:
20 - 27 August 2025
19 - 26 August 2026
26 August - 02 September 2026

These expeditions are limited to 14 passengers, providing an intimate and personalized experience, with expert-led dives and daily presentations that deepen participants’ understanding of marine life and conservation.

11/09/2024

More and more people are prioritizing their health and well-being through experiences that allow them to disconnect from everyday stress. This can be part of their daily activities or something they seek out while traveling. According to Virtuoso Travel Week 2023, 94% of travelers are incorporating wellness and self-care into their trips. To indulge in the spirit of relaxation, the hotels and resorts in Mexico from the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio offer a variety of experiences and activities for those looking to reconnect with themselves.

Located on the most important avenue in Mexico City, The St. Regis Mexico City has developed a map with a scenic route featuring the best spots in the area for those who prefer running or walking. This is an excellent way to explore the city while residents and travelers maintain their exercise routines. For those travelers who prefer to keep up with their gym routine, The St. Regis Spa offers natural energizing drinks to enjoy after their workout.

Meanwhile, The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City will feature a series of rituals incorporating ancient ingredients. The new in-room service called “Ritual mis raíces” resembles a Temazcal; it begins with a cleansing of copal and herbs to clear the aura and retain vital energy, followed by a body detox with a facial mask and a full-body detox with white clay. The ritual ends with a traditional massage using herbal compresses and a blended tea of green tea, marigold, and copal. At the end of July and August, they will offer the “Ritual Alma de Cacao,” which includes a ceremony led by a shaman, a body cleansing with powdered cacao, a relaxing massage with spheres of pure cocoa butter, and a nourishing mask with cocoa cream.

At W Mexico City, residents and guests can escape their routine with the Cosmic Experience, a ritual guided by a shaman that includes an energy cleansing with bowls and a moon oracle reading. For those looking to restore their mind and body, Temazcal Healing offers guided meditation with pre-Hispanic instruments. Both experiences include access to the wet areas. The hotel will also offer a summer promotion that includes a 60-minute massage and brunch on Saturdays from 2:00 to 10:00 pm, or if you prefer to attend on a Sunday, brunch is available from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Ixtapan de la Sal Marriott Hotel and Spa is the ideal place for a relaxing weekend getaway. Visitors can book a spa treatment or spend a day at the pool for an additional daily fee. The spa offers 50- and 80-minute body massages inspired by natural elements such as earth, air, and fire. They also have a holistic obsidian experience, body wraps, prenatal therapy, and four-hand massages. Couples can book reflexology or shiatsu therapies, or even the signature treatment: Secreto de Cleopatra.

In the heart of Puerto Vallarta, Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center is a paradise for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel offers an all-inclusive plan that allows guests to enjoy unlimited food and drinks while taking in an unmatched view of the sea. As part of its activity offerings, the hotel provides yoga classes every Tuesday and Thursday. To celebrate International Relaxation Day on August 15, the hotel will offer a guided meditation session accompanied by a quartz bowl concert. During Wellness Weekend from September 20 to 22, they will offer Hatha yoga classes, a CrossFit session, and gentle yoga, as well as personalized training in their gym.

Located in the sought-after Riviera Nayarit, W Punta de Mita is the perfect setting to reconnect and enjoy a wellness-centered environment. It currently offers its W Retreat series (W Retreats), which includes wellness experiences like classes with renowned fitness personalities and ice therapies to boost your body’s energy. If guests are looking to integrate a single activity, the resort offers sound therapies every Friday and a monthly cacao ceremony to help nourish the soul. They also offer morning yoga classes or even surfing lessons for guests to learn how to master the waves. At AWAY Spa, guests will find all kinds of treatments, with one of the most iconic being the Hikuri Journey, inspired by the ancestral journey of the local Wixáritari (Huichol) community.

Meanwhile, The St. Regis Spa at The St. Regis Punta Mita offers signature treatments that focus on the health of the body and mind. The anti-burnout therapy includes a massage with white jade stones, which help release tension and negative emotions. The treatment is accompanied by vetiver and lavender aromas, known for their relaxing effects. Other notable treatments that promote energy flow include the Abhyanga massage, a personalized treatment incorporating essential oils used in Ayurvedic medicine, as well as sound therapies with Tibetan bowls. The resort also offers yoga classes, cacao ceremonies, and Temazcal experiences.

Located at an exclusive spot in Los Cabos, Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, offers its guests the wonders of its Alkemia Spa, a vibrant oasis in the middle of the desert. At this facility, the most discerning guests can find a variety of classes, ranging from Pilates to restorative yoga. For those looking to optimize their exercise routine, the fitness center offers HIIT classes or glute and core workouts. The Reserve also offers healthy options like poke bowls, salads, and vegetable Vietnamese rolls. For those seeking treatments, we recommend The Harmonizing Ritual, inspired by the power and symbolism of the full moon. The treatment begins with a foot bath ceremony using healing basalt stones with grounding crystals. During the massage, a Kansa wand—an ancient Indian tool known for calming the nervous system—is used to draw infinity cycles over the body, creating a hypnotic rhythm that helps release any tension.

Jasha Spa is another incredible wellness sanctuary located within the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa. The resort offers a menu of treatments and massages that promote the well-being of its guests. In this space, it is recommended to take the Ritual of the Four Winds, which is inspired by the four elements of nature. Through specialized movements and the application of native healing herbs, the physical and energetic body is rebalanced.

Also located on the Baja California Peninsula is Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort in Los Cabos, which not only has a complete wellness offering at its modern Ojo de Liebre Spa but also features two suites focused on wellness and relaxation. These suites are equipped with a double massage bed, steam room, heated seats, meditation visors, and halotherapy, providing comprehensive body therapies that balance the body’s alkalinity through an immersive experience.

In southern Mexico, JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa offers its guests the best way to start their days with intention. Every day at 7:00 a.m., a Sunrise Yoga session is held where guests can practice yoga with the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. During the summer, Sens-yah Spa will offer a package that includes a personalized massage and after-sun treatment. Guests can also opt for the 50-minute relaxing massage package and a 30-minute refreshing facial.

Guests and visitors can immerse themselves in a state of fulfillment with these Marriott Bonvoy experiences, which also earn points towards accessing exclusive experiences through its loyalty program. For more information and reservations, visit https://ow.ly/kUa350TkN3I

Inside my luxurious escape to the Dominican Republic's four-hotel resort
Punta Cana's all-inclusive resort has everything guests need to unwind...

hether it's a relaxing couples trip or a sun-soaked getaway with friends, it's no surprise that the Caribbean is a top choice for those looking to get away.

My recent visit to the Dominican Republic's Grand Palladium Resort & Spa gave me a new-found appreciation for the all-inclusive experience. Situated a 30-minute drive from Punta Cana airport, the five-star resort is made up of four hotels including the luxurious adults-only TRS – offering guests endless choices for dining, drinking and relaxing.

First Impressions of Grand Palladium Punta Cana
I stayed at the Grand Palladium Palace, which granted access to the two other family-friendly hotels – Punta Cana Resort and Bávaro Resort. Guests can roam freely between the hotels trying out the various pools and restaurants on each site, travelling either on foot or by golf buggy.

TRS Turquesa is the resort's adults-only hotel, and with its luxurious facilities situated a stone's throw from the beach, it's no surprise that it was the honeymoon filming destination for the Love Is Blind cast. It has two pools with swim-up bars and plenty of relaxation spots, situated next to Helios Beach Club (my favourite spot for breakfast) which overlooks the clear waters and beach sun loungers exclusively reserved for guests.
