On Saturday, November 16, 2024 is the start of shotgun deer season where dogs are allowed to track deer for hunters. This season runs from November 16, 2024-January 4, 2025. You will encounter hunting dogs on county roadways, as well as slow moving vehicles as hunters attempting to capture their hunting dogs. Please use caution while driving and those that are hunting, please be safe. Also, it is a criminal offense to remove a tracking collar from a dog. Any hunting related incidents are typically investigated by the Virginia Conservation Police.
