Roberta Busechian (Trieste, 1990), is a sound artist and researcher-sound art theory, practice and sonic activism, based in Berlin. She teaches sound art in art schools in Berlin since 2014 and has attended international conferences presenting her research through talks and presentations (i.e “CENSE Annual Sonic Ecology Conference" (Usti nad Labem - CZ), ICST - Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology, Zurich).
Her main interests include the effects of listening in creating common aggregation points in the physical space, and especially the technological possibility of virtually connected urban spaces through live stream and time shift. She presented her works in many exhibitions and performances around Europe: Venice, Milano, Verona, Vicenza, Trieste, Nova Gorica (Slovenia), Berlin (DE), Salzburg (AU), Siegen (DE), Graz (au), Weimar (DE), San Diego (CA), Los Angeles (CA), Long Beach (CA), Tijuana (Mexico).

During this period of uncertainty due to lockdown, stasis, crisis and separation, Axtra.Lab was conceived. This daughter of sound was not born only from the desire to create an independent label of experimental electronic music and sound art but it is above all the symbol of the communion of two similar personalities.
Axtra; not just the merge of Alvax and (T) raum but a star of the ethereal audiovisual area, a celestal body.

Who are we?
AXTRA presents its founders, starting from:

Alvax aka Valeria Di Sabato
is an international sound designer, sound artist, music designer, music programmer and media installation artist. She is based in Sicily and Milano, her interests were conceiving electronic music and the production of experimental sounds. In Milan she attended a three year course in Sound Design and then a Masters in Sound Art. She worked with many internationally established sound artist and professionals in the audio field like Bill Fontana who gave her new ideas and ways to approach audio recording. Combining her interest for video games and music she discovered how to play using old consoles like gameboys and she became part of the micromusic Italy group playing in Milan (Leoncavallo). At the same time she was playing festivals and clubs with Robinija aka Roberta Busechian. She also performed at Cadorna Triennale in September 2016 and at Errant Sound Project space in Berlin.

AXTRA.LAB is a new born label runned by Valeria Di Sabato aka Alvax (Sicily and Milano) and Roberta Busechian as (T)Raum (Berlin). The project aims to develop a common ground to present electronic experimental music and related audiovisual projects.The following video by Alvax is based on a typical sicilian stone, the obsidian, which has been used since ancient times both to make cutting tools but also to create decorative elements, such as pendants, statues and mirrors. Many attributes of the obsidian could be related to AXTRA concept, dealing with properties of purification driven by electronic sound, considering it a portentous energy capable of driving away negative energies and diclosing emphaty for the nature and contemporary humanity.

ABOUT

AXTRA.LAB is an experimental Label run by Alvax aka Valeria Di Sabato and (T)Raum by Roberta Busechian. The label is based in Berlin and Milan.

The aim of the label is to promote and share young artists working in the field of electronic experimental music, electroacustic music, sound art, soundscape composition and glitch music.

The field of activity of AXTRA.LAB involves both music and audiovisual projects, aims to push the contemporary listening of electronic sounds through technological, net-based projects, sound installations, live streamings and live performances. The idea of making a label also a laboratory means building a community of artists, sharing and involving technological and aural knowledge in different formats (digital and analog). The label has also an innovative section for the promotion of junior talents between 14 and 20 years.

AXTRA.LAB as a laboratory is also an educational project, willing to diffuse and discuss the meaning of the sound artistic research in the contemporary society and tendences related to sound studies, gender studies, electronic culture, multimedia interaction and visual approach to sound.
