TL;DR: Apex Legends players are disappointed that the train in the World's Edge After Dark map is not moving during the Harbingers Collection Event. They believe the map is not the same without the dynamic element of the train battles. Some players wonder if there is a technical issue or if it was a poor design choice. There is hope that the train might start moving again before the event ends on October 3rd.

Destiny 2 experienced severe instability and server issues after a weekly reset, leading to players being unable to play or getting kicked out of activities. Bungie has confirmed that these issues were not related to a recent weapon bug but were the result of DDoS attacks from outside sources. Bungie rarely comments on such attacks, but decided to do so this time to clarify it was not due to the ongoing bug fix. Finding and taking action against the DDoSer may be challenging, but Bungie has a history of pursuing legal action against those who impact the game or its community. The game is currently functioning better, but it is uncertain if the attacks have completely stopped.

Destiny 2 was barely playable at all yesterday after weekly reset, thanks to a number of error codes being spat at players during login or travel.

TL;DR: The leaked documents from the FTC v. Microsoft case reveal that Microsoft has plans for a future "cloud hybrid gaming" platform that combines the power of the cloud with physical hardware. The company envisions a handheld device and its xCloud platform working together to deliver immersive gaming experiences. Microsoft is considering partnerships with AMD and potentially Arm for hardware components and machine learning AI coprocessors. Development is projected to begin in 2024, with the first hybrid cloud games being produced from 2024 through 2026. Microsoft's top leadership, including CEO Satya Nadella, is involved in the discussions and aims to unify the company's systems talent around a single vision. Microsoft's focus on cloud-first gaming is evident with the hiring of Kim Swift, former Google Stadia design director, to build a team focused on cloud-native games. Sony is also investing in cloud gaming technology with the hiring of Jade Raymond from Stadia.

TL;DR: Unity has apologized for the confusion caused by its announced runtime fee policy and has promised to make changes. The policy, set to go into effect on January 1, 2024, would charge $0.20 per install for games with more than 200,000 installs. Unity tried to clarify the policy, but faced backlash from the development community, with some studios stating they won't use Unity anymore. Unity offices in San Francisco and Austin had to close due to a credible death threat. Unity will provide an update on the policy changes in a few days.

Unity has apologized for the "confusion and angst the runtime fee policy" it announced last week has caused and has revealed it will be "making changes" to it.

TL;DR: In Destiny 2, players discovered a bug that allowed them to equip unintended perks on legendary weapons, creating overpowered guns. Bungie initially allowed players to have fun with the glitch but will soon disable the ability to equip these crafted weapons while they work on a fix. The first fix will be deployed within the next 24 hours, with a second fix to address the bug itself. Bungie prioritizes the health of the game but acknowledged the unintentional mayhem caused by the bug. This is the second major bug in Destiny 2's Season of the Witch, with the first affecting the Iron Banner weekend. It is advised to take advantage of the bugged weapons now before they are fixed.

The curtain call approaches on this horror show.

From Uncrowned Gaming:
Unity Technologies, a prominent game development tools provider, has faced backlash from the indie game community over changes to its pricing model. This has prompted an open letter from 19 European-based game development companies, urging Unity to reconsider its decision to charge developers per-install. The developers have pledged to halt monetization activities using IronSource and Unity Ads until the changes are reversed. The controversy has escalated to safety concerns, with Unity canceling a town hall meeting due to alleged death threats against the company and its CEO. While Unity has provided some clarifications and retractions, there are still unresolved issues and ongoing controversy. Developers are urging Unity to completely retract the new pricing model to prevent an exodus to other game development platforms. Unity faces the difficult task of regaining the trust of its core user base.

Unity's new pricing model, which charges developers on a per-install basis, faces severe backlash from indie game developers. Citing threats to thin profit margins, a collective of developers has suspended using Unity Ads and IronSource. Unity's town hall meeting was also canceled due to credible th...

TL;DR: Destiny 2 has a bug that allows players to create guns with overpowered perks, making PvP and PvE activities too easy. Players are using shotgun frames on auto rifles and gr***de launcher frames on other weapons to wreak havoc. Bungie is working on a fix but has not yet disabled the Trials of Osiris PvP mode. The developer will not ban players who use this exploit but warns against external scripting and network manipulation tools.

This is one of the biggest bugs in Destiny history.
