Das Komplex aka Moogy Coast

Fast-rising Polish producer Das Komplex (real name Marcin Lukaszewicz) has become an integral part of Prins Thomas' family of trusted artists. He's already released some killer dance floor material on the Norwegian's Internasjonal label, and here pops up on one of his other imprints - the Balearic-minded Horisontal Mambo - under another alias, Moogy Coast. What's on offer is undeniably brilliant, with the talented Pole sashaying between layered, sun-down haziness (the hard-to-pigeonhole title track), chugging, eyes-closed Balearic disco ('You&Me Edit Outro'), trippy and dubbed-out brilliance ('More'), thrillingly loved-up, immersive, mid-tempo dance floor brilliance (sometime Prins Thomas secret weapon 'Czasami Jestem Ciekaw'), deliciously beatless, Tangerine Dream-inspired soundscapes ('Keep On') and mutant Balearic jazz ('Up').

" Giorgio Lopez is a pianist and producer from Naples whose roots lie in funk, hip-hop and jazz, but who belatedly discovered club music in his 30s. 'Palinuro Phonebox' was, we're told, inspired by childhood holidays in southern Italy, and what you end up with are seven tracks that, collectively, sit somewhere between jazz-funk and Balearic/downtempo, with vague hints too of early house (see 'Miramare '89') and Detroit techno (see 'Camogli Rendez-Vous'). The drifty, dreamy title track is a particular highlight, while '50cc Getaway' will appeal to fans of Kraftwerk or Yello, but really this is an album that's best served whole - ideally with on a hot summer's day with liquid refreshment in hand..."
