Shemaroo Entertainment has launched a new Hindi entertainment channel Chumbak TV.

“The channel is all set to entertain the youth of India with a promise to offer a light hearted viewing experience with an impressive lineup of international dubbed shows, captivating content from new-age creators, and engaging animation shows. It will strive to be the ultimate source of entertainment for the youth seeking fun and delight,” read a press release.

Prasar Bharati sold 11 slots during the recently concluded 5th Annual e-auction of MPEG-4 slots. The slots of DD Free Dish have been sold for a period of one year, from 01.04.2023 to 31.03.2024.

The 11 channels that bagged the slots are Aastha Bhajan, Aastha Tamil, Bansal News, Chardikla Time TV, MH ONE DIL SE, News 18 UP/UK, News State UP/UK, RT, Sudarshan News, Swadesh News and Vedic.

The auction was held on February 16, 2023. The bidding opened to all genre channels at a reserve price of Rs 50 lakh per annum.

Last year, Prasar Bharati garnered Rs 15.24 crore from the sale of 12 MPEG-4 slots on DD Free Dish during the 4th annual/57th e-auction.

Prasar Bharati has invited applications for allotment of vacant MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish DTH platform. The slots are being allotted for a period of one year, from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.

The online e-auction will be tentatively held from March 13, 2023 onwards

Bharat24 is now also available on DD Free Dish’s Channel No. 074 to further strengthen its reach among Hindi news viewers.

The channel, which is centred around the theme of ‘Jahan Tak Bharat, Wahan Tak Bharat24’, has a network of over 4,000 reporters, with a goal to have one reporter in every constituency of the country.

Sony Pal, Colors Rishtey won’t return to Free Dish despite winning slots
Sony Pal and Colors Rishtey have pulled out of DD Free Dish, as per media reports. This is despite the channels, owned by Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) and Viacom18 respectively, winning slots in the e-auction conducted in November.

This is also quite contrary to DD Free Dish's confirmation last month when the platform put out a statement saying that both Sony Pal and Colors Rishtey will be available on Free Dish from December.
