10 years ago I took a public step of obedience. Happy 10th spiritual birthday to me🥳
Just as He was then and is now…. He is so kind and I’m thankful for His rescue always.

“but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.”

For this episode, I took a brave step and invited my own therapist, Bonnie Skelton.

No matter what season you're in, seeking the counsel of a Christian therapist can be invaluable and I think this conversation with Bonnie will help you discover some insights you may not have otherwise considered.

In our discussion, she shares how her perspective has shifted to the present and how she's found purpose, friendship, and happiness in her season of waiting. She also focuses on what it looks like to delight in the Lord and find hope and fulfillment in the waiting by slowing down and focusing more on your relationship with the Lord rather than the promises ahead.

“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”

Hello, Flower Mommas! This season we’ve been focusing on seasons of waiting and for this episode, I’m excited to introduce you to someone who has played a pivotal role in speaking truth into my life, Terri Flannagan. In our conversation, she shares about how she felt God was withholding from her in a season of waiting, the idols she formed in that season, and the loneliness that resulted. She also explains the value of community and finding identity in Christ, and offers encouragement to anyone who feels like they’re unlovable.

My dear friend Cari Trotter has been a guest every season of the podcast, but given that this season is focused on the idea of waiting, I am extra excited to share this conversation with you!

Cari is well acquainted with seasons of waiting and can tell you from personal experience that choosing to celebrate inside seasons of suffering is a brave thing to do. She can also tell attest that waiting well through those seasons requires being in the Word constantly, so before you press play, I hope you'll grab a notebook and jot down the scriptures mentioned in this episode to encourage you that God is good beyond your pain and no season is ever wasted with Him.

Season 6, Episode 2 of The Flower Momma Podcast is now available on all podcast platforms!

When I decided that the topic for season 6 would be Waiting, I knew my friend Jessica Little would be the perfect person to offer our Flower Mommas some encouragement. In this episode, she shares her own story of Waiting, what it cost her, and what she gained through the struggle. She also talks about how we can change the perspective of our waiting season to a positioning season that we can use to prepare us for the next season God has for us.

Season 6 of The Flower Momma Podcast has started!

This season, our conversations will focus on Waiting. We are so excited to dig into this topic with all of you, and we have some incredible guests this season who will inspire and encourage you through your own personal waiting season.

In episode 1 I'm honored to introduce to you my friend, Kristi Baker. Kristi is part of my community group so I have personally witnessed her struggle through seasons of waiting, infertility, hope, and loss. Yet through it all, she can testify that God has proven Himself faithful. Actually, He's been more than that - He has done more than she could've ever imagined. I hope that no matter what you're facing Kristi's story will be an encouragement to you that God is deeply involved in our lives and is weaving together a beautiful story, even in the midst of our tragedies.

“Lord, please make it happen in the most impossible way so they know it’s only You who could have done it.”

Generally, when I sit down to write out a Flower Momma Message, I look through my journal to help me remember what all I have been walking through and where I have been really pressing into Jesus.

Summer was a season of stillness and waiting. Two things I can tell you with absolute certainty, I don’t excel at in my human design.

In reading my journal every area reads as a crisis of faith and desperation, but He has been wooing me to trust when I can’t peer around the corner of the “what’s next”.
He has taught me a few (a lot) of things this summer in the waiting I want to share with you today.

1) Assume bravery of yourself and those around you.

Everyday that I got up and did the dang thing, I chose to trust my shepherd to lead me by continuously putting Him before me. I chose to be brave in those moments of stillness with him first thing in the mornings instead of just waking up and allowing life to prod me forward like cattle. I think this is so true for many of you who keep showing up so be encouraged that you are so very brave and He sees that. Let’s assume bravery of those around us too.

2) When sowing prayer into reading scripture, take ambiguity as a Selah. (Rest)

There are 74 Selahs in scripture. 3 in Habakkuk 3. You find that the sharp arrows are drawn back and ready for battle. But then you read a Selah. I think about how many times in my waiting do I want to charge ahead into battle ready to do big things for the Lord, but this challenged me to remember that if I don’t have a clear directive. It’s a sign to rest, reset and wait.

3) A lack of patience is costly.

The most powerful question I have ever been asked was by Terri Flannagan. I was sharing a struggle with her and she asked me “what has that cost you?” Often when God does not readily give me what I want, it is because He knows what my desire would cost me. Faith sometimes means we have to forgo our desires because we trust Christ to have the better plan.

Season 6 of The Flower Momma Podcast comes back this October and we will get to deep dive further into the conversation of waiting. We hope you will join in! On the man time, text me what you are currently waiting on and how we can be praying for you. We are so very for you.

///WAITING///

The Flower Momma has evolved into continuous conversations about how we hold that tension of grief and joy this side of heaven. How we choose to celebrate to remember in the tension.

That tension holds a lot of waiting as we trust His plans for us.

We are so excited to have conversations biweekly for season 6 around waiting.
